For the H.O.G. Members...

H.O.G. member since we bought our 2000 Heritages. Wife stays a member of one of the local chapters around here just because they give her a 10% discount on everything (she shops a lot lol). Mostly we ride alone or just with close friends.

I have been a HOG member since 1985. (I had to go over to my old vest to check the chevron for sure.) This was when I had a '77. I kept it current for a few years. Let it lapse. When I wanted to get a new bagger in '94 I was told by the "stealer" that in order to get on the waiting list, I first needed to be a member of the local HOG chapter. I am not a "joiner" person. I was able to get the bike when a couple guys didn't have the money when a bagger was delivered. I had cash in hand, and with the implication I would join locally, I got the bike. Never joined the local. Let it lapse after a few years. When I went to rebuild the '94, another dealer had "open house" or holiday sales often where they gave 10% discount on those days or 20% if you were a HOG member. Since I was going to be purchasing new tires ($500) and a Cycle Electronics alternator kit ($500), as well as all kinds of other parts, it didn't take long to pay for a membership. Then I ended up buying the trike this summer and tacked on another year. No desire to ever belong to a local chapter.
