Since Rollin' Thunder brought up the thread of who here are H.O.G.members, What about everyone tell us what chapter number. Since it is the 30th anniversary they are obviously numbered by what number they get once formed (chronologically).

I am a member of Buddy Stubbs Arizona H.D.( dealer is 48 years old) #93 and their sister dealership, Buddy Stubbs Anthem H.D. They are 5 years old and number 2376. I wonder what dealership has chapter 1.

Side note: Buddy Stubbs' father owned one of the original dealers in Decatur, IL. back in the 40's and Buddy was a stunt man in Hollywood in the 60's-70's and has an AMAZING motorcycle museum here attached to his dealership, over 130 bikes from his life. (You can check them out online and on YouTube.) included in his museum are several bikes owned by Evil Kneval who was Buddy's best friend. I love looking at them every time I go to the dealership.

{ I swear I tried to make this a short thread}.

Been riding Harley's for 40+ years and am a National HOG member since approx. '87, while I am all for them I would not gave a dime to ANY local
chapter - and I have attended several in my area - I DO have a choice -
they have all seemed like clickish ignorant snobs. Additionally as I age I
prefer riding solo or with just another bike or two (PACK riding IS not my
style).
Also life member of AMA.

Just my personnel thoughts/opinion.

Been riding since 72, got HOG membership with each new bike, always a new number since there only free for the first year. I was even a HDOA member before HOG replaced it. I stopped being a local chapter member in 97. Too many people riding new bikes that don't know how to ride in a group. Much safer alone. :Trike1:

114 views and 3replies, guess people aren't interested in putting their chapter name/number on my thread, oh well.

I agree with some on here about local chapters we have had a few in AZ that are that way, that being said a HOG chapter is what you put into it. I didn't join chapters for just the reason you guys stated "clickish" so when Buddy Stubbs Anthem opened I joined to be a founding member and get to know people as they joined and I have to admit it worked for me, I am Asst. Director and a road Captain and hope to be Director next year.

It has worked out well for me and I have made a lot of new friends and riding companions. We ride a lot here in sunny Arizona, almost every weekend and some rides during the week. One thing we don't see is a lot of participation in some things we do especially younger members, I think it must be a "work" thing. We do alot to help the community like raising funds for food banks and helping a homeless school.

Some have changed so give then a try and try to help out you will enjoy it.

Our chapter has 2 or 3 activities each Sat. and Sun. and at least one ride each day Mon thru Fri. We are a riding club.

Yes, we also have a lot of no shows. we have approx. 450 members but only about 100 are somewhat active and 30 to 50 really active. Myself and about 4 others ride each weekend during the winter.

I wouldn't call it clickish, but some do ride a lot together, but anyone is welcome to ride with them. I know of no one that won't let someone else ride with them.

You probably could call me clickish since my brother-in-law and sister-in-law, niece and nephew are also members and we ride a lot together along with a couple other friends.

We have new member rides so that they know how to ride in a group.

Our dealer does not interfer with chapter buisness at all. He leaves us completely alone.

Our chapter number is 1084. pepper

Sounds like we are with ya GaryD, our club #2994 has 512 members, we have meetings on a Wednesday and Sunday, once a month. Only about 120 active members and out of that about 75 really active members that show up for every event. Although it would appear clickish it really is not, anyone can join when we ride. We also have rides on the weekends year round, and as the Activities Officer for the club I am always looking to get the new members and old involved in our events.

Our dealer supports whatever we do and does not get involved unless we ask him to!

We lost a lot of old members because of the politics and riding rules.
I still don't like the way we're suppost to change lanes. 95% of all the websites I go to, change lanes the way I always did. But according to HOG(at least that's what the safety guy said they said) we have to do it their way. So instead of fighting the ruling party, they quit. If I didn't have free membership(25 years) I wouldn't be in it either. Oh well.
I still like most of the members and I don't have to ride with the group. I can just go to the final destination or ride a little farther back. ThumbUp

I second that opinion and quit our local about a year ago. the free leadership there was worth the price and less. a lot less drama with out itpepper

180 miles round trip to meetings and rides. was fun for a while. passed around cooking a meal for meeting nite. then I found out one of the club officers had been being paid to do it before we joined , and he was p.o. ed. drama, drama, drama..... deal me out !

We've been members of Antelope Valley Hogs 3 times (bought 6 bikes from them over the years) I believe it is Chapter 1665. Never stayed a member after the 'freebie' ran out, we don't like riding in groups that large.

The majority of our chapter rides are only 5 to 10 riders. I like the idea that if I want to ride with a large group, I have the chapter to go to and know that they are group trained.
Normally I ride alone on vacations - don't like having to wait for people to do their routine at every gas stop or they want to stop and see something they saw a sign for or they want to shed/add a jacket or something.
Local rides are OK with somewhat large groups - which are usually very well planned so there are not very many distractions.
I do about 3 or 4 very large charity rides a year and don't have a problem with them either because they are very well planned. You just have to remember to ride your own ride.

HOG Chapter 1955 in Jamestown, ND. Wife and I have been members for a few years. The dealership used to give out both a 1 year national and local membership for buying a new bike but quit the free local two years ago. Jamestown is the smallest city with an HD dealership in ND but had the largest HOG membership of over 300 due to the fact they sell bikes all over the tri-state area. Last year they even sold a bike to someone from Arkansas just riding thru the area. Now the local is around 100 but only about 25 active. We do a supper ride on Wednesday evenings year round. During the summer it might be anywhere from small towns 10 miles up to 85 miles from Jamestown. During the winter months we drive our vehicles to a local place. We may have from 7 or 8 to 20 bikes for the supper rides.

We do a couple special 3 or 4 day rides to the Black Hills every June and a Fall Ride to Minnesota in September.

We did Red Wing, MN last weekend. We sponsor a couple benefit rides during the summer and have a Christmas party in January.

I belong to two chapters. One in Leesburg, Florida and the other in Shawno, Wisconsin. I do not do any riding with either group except for a fund raiser :) I use my membership for the discounts :) :) I have never been to a meeting in Leesburg and have been to a few in Wisconsin because they offer an additional 5% for attending the meeting. :)

Edit: dropped out of Leesburg and joined Ocala. Ocala has 5% more discount. :) :)

When I bought my 1st new Harley In 88 I became a Life member then. I also joined our local Hog at MOTOR CITY HARLEY. They held meetings twice a month at a bar next door to them. But soon afterwards. We out grew that and had to move to a bigger place. I swear we had over 200 at each meeting. Had dinner catered in for the membership. Our meetings took about 2 hrs. With a break 1/2 way into it. It was an EVENT just showing up for the meeting. ThumbUp. At 1/2 time we'd walk outside and look at all the bikes that were there. This HOG Chapter was Know thru out the area for a good time. They had Toy run's , dinner runs. We supported the local clubs in our area & they supported us also. This was a big thing in the area. I guess the dealer # is 2368. Once we moved here to Minn from Michigan. I haven't joined a chapter here. DAVE I've been to the Anthem store more then a few times. WE used to stay on that side of town for the winter months. But spend most of our time at the ARROWHEAD dealer in Peoria. Right off of Bell rd & 83rd. Since we now live just down the rd from there. Dave look for me after Jan 1st. I'll be ridin a Black Harley:D lol. Rick

New Haven HOG #0525 Been a member of this chapter since 1993. Life member of HOG National, Life member AMA and Life member of CMRA (CT Motorcycle Riders Association).
Did not ride with the Local HOG for a couple years to many weekend riders.

Baltimore metro #1792 Life member...joined HOG in 1989...Joined Metro in 1993. Things got way to political, I was no longer having fun, so I stopped riding with the group. Still pay my dues every year, make an event every couple of years or so. I ride 12,000 to 15,000 miles a year.

Rocky Mountain HOG Chapter in Littleton, CO. #0421. Been a member since 2003 and an officer on and off over the years, and active the whole time. Our Chapter rides a lot and we spend a lot of time teaching the new members how to ride in groups safely. Can't think of a better group to pass along a lot of knowledge and experience to the new(er) riders out there.
