Footwell Inserts/Modification

Have you ever driven a vehicle that your foot just wasn't all that comfortable on the accelerator?

Even though the accelerator and brake pedals are adjustable Wayne and I felt that
it was difficult to find a comfortable foot position. We decided to try to remedy this
and thus far this modification has made a difference.
Maybe this will help others who feel the same.

This is a "rough draft" but will suffice until spring when the weather is nicer
and we are able to get out more and test it.

We cut a paper template for each footwell. The front portion of each footwell is deeper in the front
where the accelerator and brake pedals are. We filled in the front portion of each footwell with wooden
inserts so that the front footwell was level with the back portion of the footwell. We cut a triangle shaped
wedge and bolted it to the insert (only on the accelerator side) to serve as an abbreviated "footrest" of sorts.
We beveled the triangle off a bit on one side.

We cut heavy-duty automotive rubber mats the shape of each template and bolted them onto the wood inserts/footwell.

Wendy, you guys are so inventive! You gotta know that others with the same vehicle have had similar issues, so it is wonderful for you to share what has worked for you.

Thanks Nana!
We both are idea people. I tend to be creative and artsy. Wayne engineers and THINKS.......alot.......
and then we both build. :) I love to work with tools, saws, drills....anything. It is a fun way to spend time together. ;)
