With it being so new not really much out there available , you know on back order. They wasn't prepared for it being so popular.
It looks like we are going to have to come up wit some stuff. Then maybe HD will catch on to what we need/want. The flrt is as good as it gets in the stock form as compared to other bikes etc...
so why don't we post up what would be good to have. Whether it is offered or not.
there a lot of stuff from other bikes that will work on it but they have not done any r&d to see if it will work.

Good point, ThumbUp

Our Sundowner seat and backrest is on backorder right now for our new Freewheeler. I think more seat options would be good, muffler options, more wheel options and some more Freewheeler specific handle bar options for those who don't care for the stock bars. I think the stock bars are nice myself but read on another forum someone complaining about the shape of the stock bars and wanted to change them out. A few more windscreen sizes would be nice besides the 16" & 20".

With the popularity of the Freewheeler, and getting more so every day, I'm betting Accessories and "Goodies" will become very available in the very near future. This should develop into a great Thread...Great Idea.....ThumbUp

I hope you are right. Every after market manufacturer that I have contacted besides corbin and mustang seats have told me they have nothing for the FLRT and have no plans to make anything. DK customs has some cool stuff otherwise I have been striking out.

I'm one of those folks that "it can't be done" I will make one.
never have been afraid to bring out a torch or welder to get it like I want it.
you will be surprised how many makers will start making some cool chit, they will say no for now but just wait they will have a attitude change in the end.
I spent a couple of hours going over our flrt. Looking for possible changes in mind. One of the down falls, not that bad for some, is the less leg room for long leged passengers. I started with a adapter to lower the floor boards but it also pushes the boards out 1/2inch.
The wife likes it better but still not enough. My next attempt will be using foot pegs with cruise pegs that opens and closes. I got the idea looking at different style Dyna cruise pegs. It's all one piece. So it would be kinda easy to adapt to the free wheeler.
Where in the Sam hill did HD find those short grips. Not enough room for my hands.

1) "A few more windscreen sizes would be nice besides the 16" & 20"" + a recurve model . (www.longrideshields.com, www.clearviewshields.com, www.rifle.com don't have plans to introduce any.)

2) A 5" analog speedometer / tachometer. I know I could install an add-on tach, but I *hate* hanging stuff all over handlebars with little clamps.

I had the same problem. I have huge hands . HD's get a grip motorcycle grips for bikes with throttle by wire in magnum size work great for those of us with big hands and the price (for once) on them is not unreasonable..

you can add memphis shades to the list of those who have no plans to actually produce a windshield for the FLRT. I know some road kind windshields will work but leave a bigger gap on the headlight cutout. I don't know for sure what sizes are available for those.

Kinda hard to believe none of the windshield manufacturers are not interested in making FLRT shields. Since RK shields will fit, very little needs to be changed to have an FW unit to sell.
As popular a seller as the Freewheeler is,I think it's just a matter of time before lots of new products hit the market.

I did buy a Long Ride Shields 16" recurve for a Road King and have it on mine, the headlight opening is a little larger but looks OK. I was going to try their shield for a Heritage, it has a smaller opening, but I have the 7 hole frame and it only comes in the standard 5 hole.

Long ride. Shields does carry one. It is just the wind shield, no hardware. Reasonable price.
Remember they are based off a road king.

Well, I would like a better seat selection - that is for sure!

But, another accessory I would like to see is a Speedo / Tach (Analog or Digital or Combo) that is FOR the Freewheeler!

That means it HAS the Parking Brake, Reverse, and Reverse Trip Indicators.......and they work.......

...PS make it have a window for the Gear maybe......

Am I misreading this? My 'Free has all of that. You have to press the scroll button to go through the functions trip, reserve, tach and gear indicators.

The stock instrumentation works well for me. It gives 2 trip indicators, estimated range, RPM, current gear, time of day, etc. etc. I don't see what the big issue is. The only thing I have added is a voltage indicator that has red, amber and green lights telling if the charging system is working. One of these ($40.00) saved our butts a few years ago when we were riding our 2000 Road King in Arkansas and the stator went out.

I am glad you have no issue with it; but, I have. I would like a Tach that is always present....I don't like having to flip thru the digital insert to find it - I want that at a glance all the time. Actually, would even like the gear indicator that way if possible. Analog or digital or a combination would be fine. But, I want the above without having to give up the reverse, reverse-trip, and parking brake indicators. I want instrumentation that will work with all the current functionality.......I just want it to present that data in a format that I can work with and read more easily.

See, for me, its about getting something better that will work for me more......but, I think such instrumentation would be very popular and appeal to more than just me.........

Be patient there will be more products coming out. It is brand new so the marketers will do something. I think HD will offer something later on to.

I agree it is kinda aggravating to scroll through the menu every time. As a long time LD rider it doesn't take me long to learn what my rpm's are at any speed and gear selection. It just takes me a little time.
I know that in 6th gear and riding at 70 mph is right at 3,000 rpms, 5th gear at 60 is right at 3,000 rpm's.

I do understand what you mean. I think you can get what you want in time.

I switched the stock mini-apes out for some beach bars. Couldn't get used to them. I had beach bars on my Road King Custom for past 11 years - old dogs, ya know... LOVE my beach bars - have 7000 miles on BlueBell already.

You are correct, you are misreading it.......

The functions are there. But, I am hoping for a unit that can present them in a format that these old eyes can work with better.

Speaking of that, wife and I are old and our eyesight 'has been better' We had riding glasses made with progressive lenses and vari-lux coating. Really helps reading the gages and GPS. ALso don't have to carry an extra pair of sun glasses

Well,

I was talking to the Dealer this past weekend and was told not to expect a lot (accessory-wise) coming out this fall for the FLRT....

...I hope he is wrong....

I did a search for you but i was surprised there wasnt one made for the free. Wonder what the difference is from other bikes. I use Dakota guage
. Didnt check them as of yet. I do understand why you would need one though.
