Fix My Hog - Negative Review

I do not know if this is the right forum but this is a product/company i will not recommend.

I am a premium member of Fix My Hog. After receiving many emails about good deals on their products like 50 % off i decided to purchase a set of their maintenance tapes. Well to my shock they do not ship to Canada. The person I spoke to said that it costs too much to the members to ship to Canada which made no sense to me. It is a bit more expensive to ship to Canada than in the US and it takes a bit of time to fill out customs documentation but in my mind they just cannot be bothered to take care of clients North of the border.

They do have some of their maintenance tapes that you can download for a price so I paid the price and purchased their download on how to rebuild an S&S carburetor as i want to work on my chopper'ss S&S carburetor. No problem and it was easy enough to download. then came the fun part. the download bugged at the same place no matter which reader i tried to use to open the download. I could get a little over 55 minutes into the instructions and then it stopped and said there was an error. Well after trying a few times to get past this corrupted segment and wasting a few hours of my time I could not so i contacted Fix My Hog and on the same day they said they would get in touch with their IT department and send me a link to a non corrupted file.

This was the 7th of April and I still don't have either a fixed product or a reimbursement for the $$ I spent.

I have communicated with them a few times and had one answer asking if i had received the fixed download (22 April).

I responded that i had not and still no fix or even a communication.

Frankly irrespective of the reason they do not want to deal with Canadians i find this treatment completely unacceptable and will not waste my time or money on a renewal with them.

Although there is a much larger market in the US there are still a lot of Canadians that ride Harleys/choppers/trikes and frankly the way I have been treated and feel Fix my Hog can go F*** itself

A lot of people swear by this company, I'm really surprised their service isnt better than this. Hope you get it fixed.

Just a follow up. after posting here and on two other forums i belong to I got an email this morning with a new link to the video i was looking for that worked so they corrected the problem. Funny it only took 3 weeks and maybe it was only a coincidence that it happened after i posted and sent them an email with a link to my three posts.

Sorry to hear this as I like the vids on their site and Bob ? does a good job of explaining in detail most every time.

Definitely agree with you on your complaint tho'. If they're willing to take $$$ from Canadian members, then they should be willing to ship their product to Canada as well.

Unless they've changed their policy, this is one thing that bugs me about their membership. After I signed up, then it was made known to me that unless a member specifically chose to let their membership expire and communicated as much, FixMyHog would "automatically" renew the membership using the credit card they have on file. I'm not comfortable with any business charging anything on my account without my permission! Am keeping track of the expiration date and will decide at that time if I'll renew or tell 'em to let it expire.

Good to know about the not disclosed auto renew policy
