Well I finally got the trike going for the first ride of the season.:D I don't count the trip to Florida in January. I went to start it wednesday and the battery was dead, so I put it on the charger for a day. After that, still no go, ended up the battery took a dump. The battery was less than a year old, not off to a good start this year.
Now they are calling for snow this weekend, so the state can unload the rest of their salt.

you must be farther north. I first got out about 3 weeks ago, kind of cold but not bad. I admit, it's been hard being stuck in the office the last couple days when it's been so warm only to have the weather break bad on the weekend. Hope your battery change goes well, guess I better go plug the battery tender back in for the weekend.

Izski326, I bet your battery ran all the way down and then froze. I suggest a tender next year when you lay her up for the winter.

I keep it in the heated garage. I normally have the battery tender on it, but I just got back from Florida Feb 1st, so it should have been fine. When I put the new battery in I noticed a slight spark while hooking it up. I'm assuming that was the draw from the alarm system, or there is a short in there somewhere. Time will tell, seems to be ok so far. I also had the 10,000 mile service and an oil temp gauge installed at that time.

The slight spark would be from the security system and the computer. They do not draw enough to run you down if you do not run it for a few weeks. So your right it should have been fine if you last ran it Feb 1st. Batteries and Harleys are a issue. The batteries do not like all the vibs given off by the Harley. When you replace your battery get a good glassmat battery should help resolve the problem.

I always get a small spark and also I get a funny noise I suspect is the electric fuel pump, Take the positive terminal off put a volt meter on the battery terminal and the other lead on the wire you removed and see what the voltage is. The clock and radio memory use a slight amount of power also.If u have an Amp meter try that the same way.

ya know if you would just move down here to sunny Florida, your first day of the season would be the day you arrive!!!!! The snow shovels work good on picking up leaves too!!!

That would be a great idea, but I'm not retired yet
