fire under the hood

A couple of weeks ago I rode the Stallion uptown, and back...around 20 miles I guess.... I was almost home and I smelt something burning, thought it was a neighbors trash....well I pulled into the garage, got my stuff out, and hit the remote to close the door down....got to the house, and noticed I didn't smell that smell no more....something told me to go back and just to make sure the Stallion wasn't running hot or something, I raise the hood, and low and behold my alternator was burning at the wire connection, a flame....noticed after extinguishing the flame, that the nut on the terminal was loose....tightened it down, no problem since....the rubber boot on terminal was what caught on fire....glad I went back in the garage, for I had my 55 Chevy truck and my Harley in there too, might have lost all my toys all at once....for now on....I'll listen to my lil voice more often.....

Its a good thing you went back and checked under the hood...that could have made for a real bad day!

It's good to listen to that voice in your head every now and then. That voice quit talking to me some time back so now I just do what ever I want and that gets me into trouble sometimes.

MJ had the exact same thing happen to hers just after she purchased it. We were still in the area of the factory dealer in Daytona when they were still open. The alternator is still working fine 75k miles later.
