I'm looking for a mapping program that will load on my laptop that will let me find points of interest, such as museums, historic sites. Anyone have any suggestions.
Thanks in advance.

I use Microsoft Streets and Trips for trip planning and as a general desktop (laptop) reference for looking up location information, distance, driving times, fuel costs (calculated), etc. It is a very good planning tool and easy to use in my opinion. It has 1.8 million POI's. Like ALL map/gps programs, some POI's are outdated, not yet included, have wrong phone numbers, location, etc., but none are perfect. You can also attach a gps and use it as a moving map display as you drive. It will show your position on the map as you travel, but I would not recommend S&T as a replacement for a good street type gps. They keep improving the gps functions, but they are not in the same league as a good street gps yet.

I'd look for the 2007 version at a discount price. $15-20 on Ebay

+1 on Microsoft Streets and Trips. It really works well for planning a trip. I just wish I could download it into my TomTom. If anyone knows how to do that, please let me know.
Thanks.
