Finally! New Ramp is being built.

I am so happy I want to jump up and down for joy! I know only you guys will understand! My new ramp is being built in my drive as I type right now! I had waited almost 4 weeks for my previous handy man who kept saying it's almost done when it wasn't even started. I finally had to say "goodbye" to him. I'm a paying customer and I was being pushed back behind all the other jobs. So my previous handy man is back in business and I called him Thursday he is here building it right now! I've only ridden 3 times due to the difficulty getting the trike out and not wanting to damage anything with the underneath dragging getting it in and out of the shed. So I'm over the moon right now! 10 day forecast shows 80 and 90 percents chances of rain on my days off and sunny on my work days.

Errrr.

Will just play it by ear but I will be out every chance I get. Safety course is June 13 so I have to be ready. If not there is one Sept 27 but it's alittle further away. And of course other dates could be added but I'm still shooting for June 13.

:Coffee: I used to have to travel 70 miles one way to go to work and there were a few times I just couldn't turn in the gate. I would stop kick the tires cuss and scream but my bike just acted like a mule!

I finally had to get on and ride to the next town for gas and fill my saddle bag with ice and beer and see where the day took me. Sometimes it took more than one day to get it to head home.

I knew it was going to be one of those two-bit rides I'm famous for?

( two-bit ride= flipping a quarter at every intersection)

Good for you Jolie!!! I sure understand not wanting to drag on the stoop getting that trike in and out.. Not exactly the best for things I'm sure. :xzqxz: Summer should be in full swing there soon so you'll get lots of saddle time. The safety course is a good thing but don't kill yourself (literally) trying to prepare of it. The September date will be here before you know it.

It's a shame some people feel the need to take advantage of another. Whether pushing you back because of jobs that would pay more doesn't give a person the right to lie. Now you know his true colors. But don't go burning bridges. Some day he might be your only choice for something. Just go out and enjoy a little ride. You'll be glad you did.

Well I guess I got so excited that the post I wrote I forgot to hit submit. LOL

Nope didn't burn any bridges, I hired the guy to keep my drive plowed last winter since I had the fractured wrist and couldn't scoop snow. I just told him I found someone who could get it done right away and he said ok so I said ok. It's a small town so gotta stay "nice".

No more excuses. I took the trike out and put it back in and OMG what a world of difference. Went in so smooth, no dragging. When I went to go put it in I said "oh no, my duct tape" and Steve said what??? I told him I put duct tape down the center so I knew where to aim to go in the shed since there is only so many inches of clearance on each side and I don't want to scratch Thunderstruck. I got the duct tape and he put a strip down. Now I know you guys are rolling on the floor laughing so here's a little more chuckle for you...there is also a strip at the other end of the shed so I aim for it when I go in the shed.

It's a gal thing I'm sure.

But I'm a happy camper tonight. He also told me to get ice barrier to put on the ramp because rain will probably make it slick and the ice barrier will stop that..plus I don't want to fall and fracture a wrist again either. So here is a pic.

No "gal thing". I have less then two inches on each side when going between my shop and garage. I painted a black and yellow stripe on the concrete slab to help keep the trike centered....

I've got paint for mine just have to get it done.my simple mind has used a roofing shingle in the past for traction and it worked well for me.I have roll roofing for this one.The shingle idea came to me after I slipped while standing and lifting while on the ramp while it was wet.Resulted in a broke wrist and how to increase traction immediately became priority #1.

I did the same thing on a trailer that hauled the Stallion. Only had a couple of inches on either side and I ran it up the whole length of the trailer floor. Worked no scratches.

I'm glad the duct tape (of course it's not plain gray since they have so many patterns now lol) wasn't such a bad idea. I just sold the small ramp, actually taking it out in trade for my yard to be mowed several times. AND I just got the trike out to take a little ride early this evening. Right now the school kids are out and businesses will be closing so I'm going to wait a little bit til less traffic because I'm going to ride where I haven't ridden yet and hopefully get out on the blacktop and up to 55 for a short trip.

I took the trike out after I got home from a 6 hr overtime day. It makes a world of difference with the new ramp. So easy. I rode around town, saw an old classmate and talked so it cut in to riding time but the visit was awesome. When I got on the trike to head home something clicked and I rode so confident through town! I rode it right in to the shed with no problems. I'm feeling over the moon! A little pickup with a couple teen boys in it got right up behind me and it didn't make me nervous at all. I just rode like I should and they finally backed off. No panicing from me. My next trip I'll get out and get up to 55. No stopping me now, no excuses! :clapping:epper:

I painted the floor of my Toyhauler with that stuff. It works great. I will be applying another coat or two this year just because I still have a half gallon of it.

Ramp looks good Miss Jolie. Sounds like the riding is coming along just fine. Seems like your comfort level is growing. In no time you'll be out and about at all speeds. Enjoy the time you get riding. I'll bet in no time you'll be riding to work as well.

I have a wooden bike/trike table and I have a strip right down the middle for placing them in proper place.


This is before I added the center stripe.

Go for it, I borrowed the idea myself.
My dimensions:
2x12 boards for sides and ends
each section is 2 feet x 64 inches with 4 sections with a ramp
Ramp is 6 feet long, don't make it any shorter or you will drag, 3 sections under ramp for support.
Called for 3/4 inch ply wood, I used 21/32 inch
It is stackable. Once you have the trike/bike on it you can remove the 2 center sections for getting under for work.
Cost was $145, cost may differ
I used the cut off pieces for the 2x12 for extra support where the jack goes in 2 locations.
