Finally, my trike is in view!

A while back, I posted that I'd ordered a Hannigan kit for my '08 Kawasaki Nomad. It was due in May, but the factory burned down and after stringing me along for six months, Hannigan decided not to re-do their Nomad kit.

So, I thought about buying a new Nomad that CSC has a kit for, but settled on a Harley Road King instead. I'm not into fairings or tour paks. I ordered the trike kit for the Road King and it's finally been delivered to the dealer.

I'm taking my bike there Monday to start the conversion.

I can't wait!!

I am jealous-I can't make my mind up on which bike and kit to go with, or to buy one built. I keep going back and forth, and the voices inside my head are making me crazy. Curious as to why you had the hd dealer do it instead of a trike place-did you compare prices? :GL1800:

I guess I wasn't clear enough. My original deal was with Trike Traders just up the road from me here in Florida. The guy there was great thru all the business with Hannigan so I stayed with him.

Once I couldn't get a trike kit for my old Nomad, I could have gone with a Tri-Glide, but I don't care for the fairing/tour pak, etc. I also don't listen to music while I ride.

I finally decided to go with the Harley Road King, but stayed with Trike Traders to do the conversion. In fact, despite my bad experience with Hannigan, I went with a Hannigan kit again anyway.

Actually, when you consider the purchase price of the Road King along with the conversion with Trike Traders, I'm paying more for the trike than I would have buying a Tri Glide new.

Economically, it doesn't make sense, but this way I'm getting what I want, including 57 Chevy two-tone colors, Sierra Gold and Adobe Beige.

This will be my last toy. My kids will have to deal with the economic consequences!

:)

"congrats"

I have a GL1800 Hannigan trike, and I sure wish the factory had burned down before mine was built.
The trike itself is fine, but after some dealings with Hannigan 'the company' .... I can say that if I trike my Road King it will certainly 'not' be a Hannigan.

So IMHO .... you were lucky, and I'm sure you will be very happy, and will enjoy the CSC.

Really looking forward to seeing some pictures when it gets to you!!

You read my note wrong. I didn't go with CSC; I stayed with Hannigan.

I hope I'm right that their product is good, even tho they didn't handle my account very well.

Start Panting and Blowing, Dan...... your final stage of labor will soon be starting :D

Hi Dan .....

Yup, you're right ..... I totally missed your second post.

Once again, I have no issue with the Hannigan trike itself at all. I really 'do' like it.
I just had enough of a bad experience with the company to not want to go Hannigan again, based on that aspect only.

That said ...... (IMHO) once you have decided on any of the leading mfg's for the price, features and style of the kit you want, it's probably more important to get a good installer, than it is the actual brand ..... and that's probably an understatement.;)

I'm pretty sure you will enjoy your trike, and I wish you many happy miles with it!! :)

Thanks.

I feel VERY comfortable with the dealer. He handles four different brands. He was VERY good to me during the period that Hannigan kept me on the string. Offered my deposit back immediately after the fire.

It came down to MotorTrike vs Hannigan for the Road King. According to the dealer, while he's had no trouble with the MotorTrike at all, the mechanics are a little more complicated than the Hannigan. Also, Hannigan was about 5% cheaper.

In the end, it was the styling that took me to the Hannigan. The MotorTrike looked more like more of the other trikes; the Hannigan looked a little different.

Not a lot to base a decision on, but I went with my gut.

You are right DanDolfn. The Hannigan trike do look different. You usually can tell Hannigan trike right away. (Wide body) How long will you have to wait for it?

I'm having some special paint done. The bike was just black, so I had the body shipped to the dealer without paint.

I'm going with 1957 Chevy colors, Sierra Gold and Adobe Beige.

The mechanical conversion would only take a week, but the paint might add as much as two extra weeks, depending on how long the painter takes to get the right paint and to do the job.

Finally, it's here!

With the luggage rack and in my possession!

Steering will definitely take some getting used to. She resists turning. I imagine I'll get the Steer-Lite one of these days, but I'll need to sell some take-offs first.

And I've read about avoiding potholes with three wheels, but you sure don't know what that's like until you experience it!

:)
