I know this subject has probably been hashed out before. But in your opinions for TG fender bras, which would be a better choice: the Saddleman vs Harley's offering?ThumbUp

Either Bra would fit. I have the Harley type on my 2010 and it is a perfect fit..
My friend has the Saddleman one (2012). It fits his well also. Soooooo-go for the cheaper price if there is a big dif in price?!:Coffee:

I don't do hash and don't know which offerings you are looking at, but IMO bra's don't belong on anything except for really old women!;) If you want to protect your paint without beating the paint to death with a bra I would use a good clear film.ThumbUp

I agree 100%. I put the 3M film on my 2010 Limited and then on my 2012 TG and have enough left over to do 4 more TG's. I'll do my 2014 as soon as it warms up - a lot.

I bought a bulk roll 18" wide by 5' long for $45

I made my own templates and cut them out with a "new - sharp" pair of scissors.

Not hard to do at all - compound curves, like the fairing, are a little tricky....so I don't do those.

Now 3M has a spray on film - I'm going to try that as soon as I can.

I'm not paying $32K for a bike and then conering it up. I want all the beauty to show. :D

Just me but I ride in rain, snow, salt, sand, mud/gravel. I'll live with the dents. Let the {when I sell} next rider worry about it. I won't dress my ride like some boy racer.
Bras remind me of when I was a kid and my old man would buy a new car and right out of the showroom he would go to Rayco and put on those butt ugly seat covers. Then when he sold the car the new owner would rip them off and have nice seats while we had to sit on the ugly seats for years....

I use them. Had to just buff out marks they left from using them but they cover allot of damage from rocks before I used them. In hindsight, clear film on paint before I picked it up would have been best but they were damaged soon after pick up. I had been debating if I was going to run them again and they are back on trike now.
I have been doing some blackout of chrome on mine this winter already and TG is Merlot and Black so they do not "stick" out to me.
We all do our own things on our own stuff, I will go with the fender bras and be happy to ride with any that goes braless! :cxtv:

Kinda my way of thinking. I didn't spend a fortune on my vehicles to worry about what the next owner will get. I bought them for me to use. Next owner gets what's left over.

Had a set on mine, took them off and sold them, kept leaving marks in the clearcoat. Couple marks won't even buff out. Figured I chance it without them.

Hi GARYD...Where did you purchase the bulk roll of 3M film?

I went with the Motorcycle Armor kit. Gotta say I'm a bit disappointed in the amount of coverage on the fenders. I too hate to cover the beautiful Blackened Cayenne color on my 2014...but those fenders attract rocks and paint chips like crazy. Been thinking about the fender bras too.

Undecided...... :(

Your site doesn't show anything about what is covered on the Trike kit. With just 6 pieces to do the Trike does the kit cover the front & both sides of the fender, & front of the trunk, & the side cover???? Also is there any gaps in the coverage ???

Also what is the thickness of the material?

What does the tank 2 piece cover?

On the front fairing does it leave anything not covered ?

How is it applied? like window film?

I bought the 18 x 60 roll. It has been enough for two bikes so far with a lot left over in case I want to replace a piece. The beauty of making your own pieces, besides all the money you save, is you can make pieces to fit whatever or whereever you want compared the the H-D kit. You can even buy different thicknesses.
I won't put anything that does not adhere to the surface on my vehicles. If it can move it will damage your paint finish no matter how tight you make it.

I always say if bras did such a great job, you'd see every Corvette or exotic car with one.

I'll take my chances with a few minor nicks I get here and there.

We updated the site to show what is included in the trike kit. We are currently working on getting pictures together of all of the other kits. It took us a while to figure out how to show "clear" material so that you can see what it covers without just using an arrow to point to what it covers.

6 pieces include three for each side. They cover the outer, inner, and side cover. There are gaps since it is three separate pieces.

The material is 8mil+.

Depending what bike you have depends on what the tank 2 piece covers. Let me know what bike and year you have and I can then let you know.

The fairing piece does leave some unnecessary areas uncovered, ie area behind lights. We are working to take pictures on this as well.

It is not applied like window film. It is applied as follows:
1) Make sure bike is clean
2) Wet hands, film, and bike.
3) Apply film and move into position
4) Smooth out any air bubbles with squeegee
5) Dry area with towel
6) Wait 24 hours and squeegee around edges to make sure it is sealed

Thanks for the pix's. Yours looks to have the same problem as the Harley kit plus nothing on the outside of the fender. Yours also just covers the center face of the fender & not the rounded forward facing areas to the sides. I have a rather long rock chip on my left fender just outside the film. (between the face film & outside film) There is a reason for wanting that area covered. Also the inside side fender area where boots can scuff the heck out of it without the bags in there. I haven't brought myself to believe those bags are worth what they want.
Also don't you mean 8mil, not 8mm?
Thanks

Saw some there that would have looked MUCH better with pasties!

Ooops! Sorry about the typo in the 8mil+. Can you send a picture of the long rock chip on the left fender? Are you going to the Trike Talk Rally in Eureka Springs? Also, I think we do have the inside fender area where your boots can scuff the heck out of it. It may be a little hard to see in this picture. The middle and far right white pieces are the areas that would protect this (Inner fender and side cover).

He can't mean 8mm. That's over a 1/4" thick.

Yes, the price of the saddlebags is a bit steep, but for me - WELL WORTH IT! ThumbUp

I bet they have saved me from opening and closing the tour pak 1000+ times - at least.
And if you are traveling and have stuff bungied to the rack, they're more convienent. Now that the lower fairing pockets are gone and the windshield pouches are a lot smaller - they're even more convienent.
Being able to remove them and clean the bike easier is a plus, and they protect the paint in that area. What's not to like? - - besides the price. :)

Yep you are right! Ooops! Typed that wrong....should be 8mil.....

We do have a way to attach saddle bags without having to drill holes in your trike!! We are very excited about this....prevents hassle from miss-drilled holes and allows for better resale.

Trike Saddle Bag Kit
SEE THROUGH BRAZ [SUP]®[/SUP] introduces a new process for attaching trike bags without drilling holes. We use our protective coating and a fastener system that withstand heat and cold and designed to hold up to 120 lbs. If you no longer want the bags on, removal is easy and does not damage paint.

WHY DRILL HOLES TO INSTALL SADDLE BAGS?

Don’t want to drill holes in your $35,000 trike? SEE THROUGH BRAZ [SUP]®[/SUP] has designed a kit to install these saddle bags without drilling holes, and will protect the paint underneath.

Location of bags is convenient for both rider and passenger without eliminating the comfort for the passenger. In addition, once they are installed, you are able to change seats without interference. Just remove the bag and readjust without any damage to paint. Easy as 1, 2, 3 and it is done.

Road and weight tested for durability.

SEE THROUGH BRAZ [SUP]®[/SUP] has the kit to install these saddle bags without drilling holes or worrying about damaging the painted surfaces. Once installed, the bags can be removed, adjusted or stored as needed.

OK, I finally tracked down some pictures and info on the saddlebag mounting.
First let me say I'm still suspicious of this type of mounting system. I will never trust tape over stud mounting. I was on an old (2012)TrikeTalk post about this product. I can understand why you need to cover almost the whole area with velcro(8" x 12" +or-) to help spread out the holding power, but it looks awful - worse then the leather bra. IMO
Is that all you get for $78 is some velcro and wax remover? or did I read that wrong - probably did.
Every experience I've had with tape was negitive so that's why I question this system. I do not want to trust some expensive items, like a camera etc, to tape. I know the stud system is bulletproof. I've had some luck with velcro tape holding my mike, but in the heat and the pulling force the tape eventually gave way and pulled away from the surface very easily. The velcro did it's job, but not the tape. Just my own personal experiences.
I still don't know how you can get all that holding power and still be able to remove the velcro without damaging the paint.

I just bought some extra heavy duty 3M double back automotive tape and will give it a try. I'm not going to hold my breath especially when I see trim on cars peeling off here and there.
I know tape technology is improving greatly, but it's still tape and I would never feel comfortable holding anything of value. That's just me.
Good luck to you and hope you do well with this idea. Maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks. Nothing's impossible. ThumbUp
