I have a 2012 Honda Goldwing and want to add a left fairing power socket. There are several different styles available and positive and negative comments from each. I want to plug in an air compressor but do not want to blow a fuse when doing so on the bike. Comments range from changing 5amp fuse with 10 amp fuse, quality of product, etc. Any recommendations are appreciated.

When You get the pocket out and take a look at the AUX Power wire you will not want to try a compressor on that outlet. If you really want to run an air compressor there you will have to go direct to the battery for power.
Never a wise choice to increase the fuse size because you overload the OEM one. Make sure you add an in-line fuse close to the battery to that added line.
Sorry to be the barer of no so good news....

I Use the same connection for my trickle charger for my compressor, just get the same connectors for each, also use that connection for my heated clothing too. So one connection to the battery with many uses....Do not use the left pocket for a compressor, it is only 5 amps, only use that for phone charger...etc.

I'm with Gold Rush and Nam Vet, don't use a fairing pocket outlet for and air compressor and upping the fuse size can only lead to cooked wires.

When you buy a battery maintainer they usually come with a connection that can be directly wired onto the battery. Then you can either put the connecter on the air compressor and plug it into the connector or make an adapter that plugs into the same plug with an accessory socket, cigarette lighter, on the other end of it.

If you plan on using the battery maintainers connection youre going to have to upgrade the fuse. Usually theyre around 5 to 7 amps instead of the 15 youll need for the compressor.
