I did my second trip to the Tail of the Dragon, but first time on a trike and first time that I did it 2-up. We killed it! I swear we were one of the fastest motorcycles on the mountain! My trike, with the IRS, kicked ass! I was really impressed with the handling of the trike, although we had to adjust Cathy's riding position to keep from unloading the inside rear tire too much. I was much faster than I was on two wheels. We chased these guys up and down the Dragon. They were on CBR500 bikes.

We stayed with them the entire 22 miles. I could never have done that on two wheels! The photographers had a field day with my trike. Lots of photos (20 alone on 129dragonslayer)!

It's funny Rick...most of the 2 wheel world has no idea about how well trikes ride and handle. Glad you gave these youngsters a lesson.

Trikes tame the dragon every time. I braked for two wheelers who couldn't handle the curves.

The mix of bikes has changed on the Dragon since my last visit. I saw many more Harleys than crotch rockets. Most were just chugging around enjoying the sights. Luckily, we did not have slow riders in front of us.

When we pulled onto 129, I stopped and let the Hondas go first. I think they were surprised when Grandpa and Grandma on the trike were up their tail pipe!

Congrats on your ride. I've ridden the Dragon 4 times on 2 wheels, and 2 times on 3 wheels and I know just what you mean. Be safe and enjoy the ride. Larry

I know I'm faster up there on 3 than 2.I had a few move out of my way last trip and I wasn't even trying.Glad you enjoyed.

I had no idea it would turn out as it did. I was prepared to be the slow guy, hitting every turn-out to let the faster ones go past. I was even a bit reluctant to go, because I felt there was no way I'd keep up with the two wheelers, and that I'd be wishing I were on two wheels instead of three. I was very pleasantly surprised and, to be honest, I've had a little extra swagger for a couple of days...

Been on the dragon a couple of times and loved it. One trip we got behind a semi, pulled off the side for a while and then got back on and caught up with the truck and had to pull off one more time. Ride safe and have fun.

Glad You "Tamed the Dragon on 3"....I led several 2-wheeler Rides there with my Gold Wing Trike at a really swift clip....Mitzie and I have even passed 2-wheel Motorcycles all day there 2-up on Scooters....Full Lean, Frame on Road, 2-Up Scootering.......

Yo! David Copperfield. Did you just wave your magic wand?

Just so happens there is a TOI gathering of trikes at Maggie Valley, (just down the road), September 7 to 10. Check out "Rallies and Rides" sub-forum for details.

Define "just down the road". How far away are you talking about, here?

That's awesome Skuuter, gettin' after it, and Mitzie is leaning right on in with it!

That's cool. My wife's neice asked if her hubby and a friend brought their bikes if I would take them on a nice mountain ride. I agreed of course. Once we approached the Dragon she asked to ride with me, she stayed with me until we arrived
back that night. 4 mountains, 550 miles and a 1000 curves. The boys asked if my trike had a "Supercharger" on it, I just laughed and said no it's just a 1.8 V6... I have been riding the Dragon since 1987 this was my first time on a Trike and it was "Great", you are right the two wheelers including the sports bikes just scratch their head.
