I know I can tear my Wing apart (trust me, I have way too much stuff to remove or I would) just to find out what the diameter of the handlebar is where it mounts? I have been told 7/8" and 1". I was of the belief that the 'meaty' portion of the bar is 1" and then the ends by the grips it is reduced to 7/8" but now I'm not sure.

Help? Anyone?

On Goldwing Docs : The base part of the handlebar is 1 inch in diameter, and up where the grips go, it is 7/8".

Hey Thanks Keith! More good info. I had found this but wasn't sure what a GL1500C was. I knew of the GL1500A and the GL1500SE (mine) but not the other. Figured there was no difference in them just needed someone else to confirm.

1 1/8 at the clamps and 7/8 at the grips

oops! Really? Oh well, back to the drawing board.

This is CORRECT!!!! 1 1/8" dia. at fork clamps on a 1500.:Agree:

I mic'ed this before I ordered my risers to be sure I ordered the right ones. Not sure at the grips bur just above the grips is still 1 1/8".

Thanks TrikinDan & Marc. You guys just saved me some serious time and effort. Again, Thanks!

Thats whats great about this forum. The older wings my understanding is were 7/8 all the way and valks were 1 but the 1500 is its own beast just like the 1800 is its own.that darn step is what makes no bars fit it.
