I'd like to add a sidecar to my bike but it will take at least until spring before I can buy one outright.

Never heard of any. How fancy , how big you looking for. There are some very good affordable sidecars around . Some you may not have heard of unless you are really into them.

The one I am most interested in is the DMC M72C because it looks easy to get in and out of and it has a step.

At 50 yrs old, I plan to keep it for life.

DMC is a great place to spend your money. They are very good at what they do. The base price on a DMC M72C is going to go up a few of those options you you will wish you had gotten if you do do it.
