I have a 2021 Goldwing DCT. The CSC trike owner’s manual says that:

1- the oil & filter should be changed every 4000 miles. That’s a big change from the 2-wheel schedule. Is that what everyone is doing?

2- also, the DCT clutch needs to be “initialized” every 4000 miles. I don’t even know what that is. Are you GW DCT guys doing that?

DCT Clutch Initialization Process How-To | WingStuff.com..…👍

I just watch the YouTube video on clutch initialization process. Very simple to do. But it didn’t say why it Has to be done? Anyone know?

1. CSC recommends 4K oil changes on the DCT due to the additional load on the engine/transmission from adding a Trike kit. I talked to them about it a while back and this is definitely recommended on the DCT Encore trike. btw - they recommend GN4 and non-synthetic diff oil also.

2. The DCT initialization procedure improves the shifting and response of the DCT......I've always noticed an improvement after performing it. It is recommended, but not required after oil changes and any time it feels a bit sloppy shifting. Simple procedure so might as well do it.........just make sure oil is fully warmed up before procedure.

Here is a cheat sheet for the procedure I made.....

DCT Clutch Initialize Procedure

• Oil warmed up

• Lock rear wheel(s) (Parking brake)

• Ignition off

• Hold down D-switch and turn on ignition

• Wait until Engine MIL indicator goes out then let go of D-switch

• 2D, 1N, 1D, 1N (Drive and Neutral Button sequence)

• Start motorcycle

• Initialization process automatically starts

• Completion indicated by N-indicator and Tour mode

• Turn off bike to save
