In my determined attempt to use my trike much more often then in the past, I took her out this morning when it was still around 33 degrees. :AGGHH: :D

I had my leather gauntlet gloves on along with my heavy leather jacket. How-ever, the only helmets I have are 3/4 Scorpions, which I do like. I found that in this type of weather, I think some kind of full face would be more effective in keeping my face from freezing. ;)

I never cared for the solid full faced design but I will consider a modular. I've done quite a bit of research after my cryogenic ride and I think the new Nolan N104 might just fit the bill. Any opinions?? :)

I usually do fine with goggles and a bandana tied over my face with my half helmet. I was just 300+ miles from home tooling around NH and ME. Low temp of 10'F one morning. Just don't forget the anti-fog stuff. There are also those velcro leather bandana's and those neoprene face things with clown faces and stuff on them.

That's a possibility. At present, I have no bandannas at all but I do have a pair of vintage goggles, lol. Kinda look like 'SteamPunk" if you know what I mean.

As far as wearing a mask,,, I'll,,,,, think about that one!;)

I've used a HJC modular for several years now, seems to do a pretty decent job. I just bought a couple Scorpion EXO 900's, one for traveling complete with a J&M system installed and the other for riding around the local area. I'm anxious to see how well they work in the cold and the heat. Last summer I was hit by more trash than you can shake a stick at, I decided to try a modular year round.

I've had Nolan's for a number of years. First a 102 a few months ago got a new N90 Like them both very much, though the 90 is both quieter and lighter. Check out the tests of modulars on Webbikeworld, they give some good info. The actually prefer the 90 to the more expensive 104. You also might like the N43 Triology, which gives you full face when you want it and open when you don't. Wife and I use a pair of 'em with J&M headsets when we're two up.

My wife and I prefer the Nolan's as they fit our head shapes well, meaning they are very comfortable for us. We also like the Ncom system and that they have good ventilation systems on the full face models. Suits us but wont suit all.
Our kids prefer Shoei's for the same reasons as above.

Oh! and only ever full face unless you have half a brain then a 1/2 helmet will suffice. :D

Love it!!! I always wear a full face helmet, gloves and jacket... 126 outside.. no problem... I just feel safer in my gear.

Nolan helmets are very nice and will be my next helmet as I do more touring then canyon carving. ThumbUp

Nolans have spoiled me...Marge & I wouldn't wear anything but. Theyre the best fitting, most confortable helmet Ive ever used, and Ive owned every brand there is, some twice the price of the Nolands. I particularly like their instantly adjustable quick latch system and their N-Com cell phone setup. Go with a Noland and you wont regret it.
ThumbUp

I currently have 2 Scorpion EXO100 half helmets with the drop down visor. Although I like the style and visor operation, for a half helmet they do get HOT. Because of the drop down visor, there wasn't any room to incorporate any vents.

With that said I began to look at other alternatives and found the new Nolan N-104. It seems to have improved venting over previous models and it's also modular so I can flip up the face shield. I never cared for the full faced design. Yes,,, I know, it's safer but I hate that closed in effect and as I mentioned in other posts, I'm not heat tolerant at all. I have heard some comments that even with the face shield down, this new N-104 is actually a bit cooler then the Scorpion EX100 I currently have when riding. Either way, I plan to get the new N104 especially for winter riding which I do more of than in the summer (hot) season.
