I test rode a Canam RT - the other day. Kinda impressive. As much as I love my Honda (Motor Trike Conversion) I really like the ride of the RT. Was wondering if any else has ever test rode the Canam ? And what you thought.

i road a 2014 can am spyder rt could not keep it going streight down the road from one side of the road to the other. my wife was on the back for 10 minutes and had to get off. her back was really hurting her. she rides on the back of or goldwing trike all day long with no trouble. she said please don't sell our trike. if you want to learn about the can am go to spyder lovers fourm. you will learn the good and bad about them. good luck.
Before y'all do anything go try a Sling Shot...I have been riding two wheels since 1959 & that includes Cushman's / GL1000's / GL1500's / GL1800's both bike & trike..I have rode 49 states & 8 provinces of Canada from my home in Hayden, Al. But this Sling Shot is a blast to drive (not ride) it is like a cross between a go-cart & a roller-coaster.
Do you own a Sling Shot or just ridden in one? I have heard that if you are up in age, they are very difficult getting into and out of after many hours in one. Something to consider.

The can am is a very nice option to the Gold Wing but more expensive and not a lot of history depth to research. I have researched their track record for what is worth on Consumer Reports and other notable test drive and repair record web sites and have changed my mind about purchasing the bike. Can Am's repair record is 42% for the first 5 years of ownership as compared to the GWs 12% repair record. Plus the Can Am repair cost are out of the norm for normal maintenance like changing the oil or brake pads, etc. Just take a look at Youtube where they do the normal maintenance repairs and you'll see what I'm talking about. Plus another factor to consider is the riding position of the RT which is your legs are further back then a normal biker would ride which to me and I've test driven them is uncomfortable. The new Can Am F3 just out 2 yrs ago has a better feel just like a biker would feel riding with your legs forward slightly which in my opinion is a true biker riding position. Yes there are perks with the Can Am if you like riding motorbikes and you ride the F3 but there again its the high cost of repairs and the narrow selection of real motorbike riding experience that has me sold on the Gold Wing both for city riding and cross country touring. But don't take my word for it only - do the research yourself before you throw $20k+ dollars down the drain and that a minimum cost. I can buy a slightly use with lots of accessories GW Trike for that and get a tried and true bike that I can work on repairs myself without robbing the bank. Yours truly - an old biker.
