My wife has a 1988 1500 Champion Trike. The alternator went out and it was suggested that I upgrade to the Compufire. Well I did and now I have been having the worst luck trying to get it in. I have read that it can and cannot be done on a 1988 Champion. I am fairly mechanical. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again.

So just bear with it...someone will help u..
I put one in my 2000se but I had the CSC kit on it.. just had to get the right angle on it.. Also might want to change out the rubber dampers while u are doing it.. sometime they will cause vibration if u use the old ones with a new alternator..
by the say have u called Champion or e-mailed them to see if they could give u any advice????

Good luck...

I did send a tech question to both Compu-Fire and Champion. Today I got a reply from Compu-fire and called the Tech. He stated that it would fit in a 1988 1500, that I knew, I told him that like in my tech question, it was a Champion Trike kit. He said he was unable to help as this was designed to be installed in a motorcycle not a trike. I am still waiting for Champion to respond.

Mike, I have a 94 GL1500SE. My alt went out a couple weeks ago. I checked on the compufire, 95 amp for $367@ wingstuff. They had 5 reviews and 3 of them said they had to replace it within a year. I got a 90 amp from NationsStarterAlternator.com for $299+free shipping. I is tight but you can get it in there, you may need to move the two vent hoses a little. By all means replace the rubber dampers, you don't want to have to take it out and put it back in again. Good luck
