Cold test ride

Have had Tubby apart for a week. Needed to remove header pipe and dimple area by brake pedal for clearance. While apart, I put header wrap on header and also powder coated a few more parts black wrinkle.
Dark and cold but I felt I needed to ride to finish burning off header wrap. Gotta love that smell.
WIZ, the cams and TTS tune makes me smile every time I hammer it. ThumbUp I will have to lock trunk, seems I just hammer trike and it flops open!

Dennis, it must have been a lot warmer there than here today. it's freezing ass cold here. I was out side working on my trailer all day in the wind and snow. Jim P.S. Still no word on my bike.

Yes it was cold and some blowing snow but I just took a short test ride.

Mike, I do not plan a total black out of bike but I still have a few more things I would like to do.

I'm in the process of stripping some of my parts for powder coat,I noticed you did the stock wheels. Hard to tell from the picture but it looks like maybe you went with the gloss on yours. I'm trying to figure going gloss or flat,I like what I see on yours. How you like the looks of them? When you pulled the tires did you stick with the stock dunlops or go to a different brand?

I went gloss, called black ink and went with a little flake in them. Adapted a spun cap and spinner I had from an old truck to cover lug area. Had spinner silver flake but just changed to black wrinkle. Rims are dirty in these pictures.

I stuck with stock tires, front and rear.

Boy, I sure like the way your TG is turning out, is your air cleaner one of DK's? I've been thinking about getting a set of DK's 587's. I like how he routs the blow-by away from the air filter.

A/C is a stock Harley part, was gloss black, now black wrinkle.

Love the look. I have started doing the same only leaving a little more Red/Black contrasting on my 013.
Dennis, I had a lot of issues with the trunk opening until I tried this"

When the lid is open bring it up until it just touches the top part of the trunk opening.
Push the button in and push the lid in just a little. Don't try to close it yet. You will see it move past the initial latch position.
Now without touching the button, push the lid closed and listen for the click.

I have never had it open when I use this procedure. Oh by the way if you try just locking yours, it will still open. Don't know why but I have been there and it does.

Good luck

Mine stays closed real well. This has only happened twice. First time when WIZ was coming in from last tune run and punched it and to me the other night on a test run. I have it adjusted pretty good.

To Mike S.: I know I need to pimp mine out a little more. I have tried to clean and take pictures of wheels. Pictures just do not turn out well enough. Being black does make them show all the dirt but they clean easy. (when one takes the time to do it)

I have started to put a post together of stuff I have done to my 2011. The good and bad. Will post it up in my vendor section soon. I am always interested in things others have tried and if it worked out for them. Something I think all of us would find helpful. http://www.triketalk.com/forum/threads/19269-Changes-Made-to-TG?p=203274#post203274

This past month I noticed a rattle at idle. Thought it was mufflers. After reaching under while it ran, found it was the pan hard bar. The upper rod end is totally wore out. Something I will replace this winter. Always wanted an excuse to pull the body off to check out a few other things so now I will do it.

Dennis, love what you are doing with the black action. Does the FM headpipe rub the brake pedal all the time or only after it gets hot? I don't remember you having the fender bras. Are they new?

It rubbed all the time. It had wore down area on pipe and brake pedal. I bought the fender bras used from someone on the forums.
I am hoping that doing all this black, doesn't make my butt look to big.:Coffee:

I couldn't help myself, I've been caught with dirty wheels before. Sometimes sh!t happens and a person just doesn't have a chance to get to it.

I know someday my dad and I will have to do the same thing to his, wish some of the parts would last a little longer.
