Has anyone used a product called Clear Shield on their trike/bike? It is a film that is applied with soap and water and when applied correctly is invisible.

I had the 3M version of it on the fenders of my last trike, and will be adding it to the new trike this spring before doing much riding. It does a marvelous job of protecting from bug and rock chips, and it can be removed and replaced if needed. I didn't attempt to apply it myself (too many curves and shapes to be sure I'd get it bubble-free and smooth!), but a place that applies window tinting did it for me and did a beautiful job.

Can you provide links to these products? I'm more than interested in these as I just had a full custom paint job done on my bike and NEED something like this to protect it!!!!

We received our order last week, but have not applied it yet because it has been too cold. Will report on the results as soon as it warms up. Ron is very skilled at this stuff and I trust his judgement to apply it himself. While reading some of the threads and seeing the problems that people encounter by doing their own upgrades and adding their own accessories, and many of them he has done on my trike and also his RK, with the best of results, I think I'll be okay on this one also. LOL I don't think I could apply it without issues either Lesley, so if it were me, I'd have a professional do it also...well I am so to speak.

3M is (I think) a Scotchguard product. If you just google 3M Paint Shield you will get more links than you need......LOL!

I know some of the trike kit manufacturers sell pre-cut pieces that you can place and mount yourself. I found it less expensive to take the trike to the window tint company (I used Ziebart, locally), show them where I wanted the protective film placed, and let them cut what they needed out of large sheets of it. Also, it came back to me perfectly, with no bubbles or wrinkles, and I liked that!!!!
