Champion Brake Line

Thank you cavie. You are correct, I feel sorry for Judge Judy not having a mechanic she can trust.
As for mechanics, you have some that are great, you have some that do the work, and you have others, like I had this summer, who break items on the trike and tell you it was your fault, to the tune of $500, when you know it wasn't and you have no way to prove it.
I look at this way, prove yourself to me as a mechanic and you will have me as a customer for life, not, see you later. I think that is fair!

Well, bleeding the brakes was a bear. We couldn't figure out why we couldn't get the air out of the line. So, (why didn't I think of this sooner!) I looked in the repair manual. My VTX 1300 MotorTrike has drum brakes in the rear, but the VTX 1800 Champion has ... Hydraulic brakes! Of course. Hmmmm. Two bleed valves on each caliper. So what does the 1800VTX manual say about bleeding the hydraulic lines? Bleed from the top valve.

So we did.

And in about a minute, we had all the air out of the line.

Project done. $10 and the satisfaction of doing it yourself (well, almost...). Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions.

As an aside, the trike has one of those fancy "chrome" rear master cylinder covers. GET RID OF IT IF YOU HAVE IT! Or, at least check it for flaking. Every time you take it off you risk little pieces falling into the fluid, and therefore, into the system. Not a good idea. Safe riding everyone!

Congrats on getting it done Judy!I know thats a huge load off you.Glad Gorilla was able to get you fixed up.We have a great group here.ThumbUp
