A question for Stallion owners who have installed a CB antenna. Where did you mount the Antenna and what type of mount did you use. Also would you consider posting a close up picture of how it looks. I assume a Non ground plane it the correct type

LB, check out this shot.

It shows the antenna on the rear to the right of the trunk. It looks like a cell antenna, and works fine. If I remember right it is made by Antenna Specialists. I'll get over to the shop where I got it and get a model number.

Good Deal Big Dog thanks for the help. I purchased the same cobra 45wx CB you are using, Camping world has them on sale this week for $80 for presidents club members.

If you can, we'd sure love to meet you guys, Lunchbox!!!!!! (and you thought I didn't pay attention to the discussions! LOL!)

Stallion CB to Motorcycle CB

Now that Bela is on my Stallion, errr... her Stallion, I wanted to be able to talk to her on the CB. I found a hand held CB that we purchased to be able to use when one of us was in the car, and the other was on the Stallion, and that worked great. It was $100.00 and it was a cobra interstate. It had a magnetic antena, and was powered by 9aa, or a cigarette power cord.

Well now that I am on my Ducati, and Bella is on the Stallion I wanted to be able to use that CB. Our first attempt was less than safe, as I took the radio and with rechargable batteries I tried to use it to communicate. I cliped it on my sleeve, but I could only talk to her, as I could not hear her through my full face with hearing protection unless I was at a stop. So I purchased the adaptor from Serria Electronics for about $70.00 that allowed me to connect it to my upper headset cord on my Shoe helmet. I also purchased a tank bag and electorfied it with a Powerlet double cigarette power cord (one for my CB, one for my phone or GPS). I hope to have it up and running by TT3.

Re: Stallion CB to Motorcycle CB

Sounds like a workable plan to me.

OK Jean has veto me from drilling a hole in her stallion, so the "Big Dog" type install is out. Any other suggestions or photos from any Stallion owners out there???

lunchbox your making it tough without going through the body. How about looking at a "L" type mount attached to the body behind the rear seat back?

Mattel -- check the J&M website. I used to use a handheld Midland I got from them that mounted on the bars. It had a thumb transmit button & tied into one of their headsets. Worked good once I got the Voltage Regulator replaced on the Sporty so it didn't whine.

Is Sporty your Stallion? If yes, please tell me about the voltage regulator and whine.

my CB antenna did not make a hole into the body that you can see.
my CB antenna came off of a Kaw voyager many many moons ago and it will fold down when I want to put the cover on the Stallion.
I got a heavy duty "L" bracket and put another bend into it and mounted the antenna on the "L" bracket and the on the other end I did drill 2 holes in the trunk lip(not shown when trunk is closed).
the cable is mounted to one of the screws that mounts the "L" bracket to the trike.

"Sporty" is a popular slang term for a Harley Davidson Sportster. Doesn't matter what brand of motorcycle / trike you put that radio on, it'll work. IF you experience whine in your CB with a Stallion & it's Ford charging system, you have an alternator problem -- usually a bad diode. Most automotive charging systems have the diodes in the alternator, while most motorcycles have the diodes in the voltage regulator.

Don't think so. Tried several antennas before they changed reg, which fixed problem. Had same problem with '06 Ultra with factory CB. '06 was a bad year for regulators. Got warantee replacement on Sporty & Ultra had recall on regs.

With the fiberglass body you really need a non-ground plane antenna. Ground plane uses the metal body as a reflector. Using a ground plane on a fiberglass body will not cause whine but your range will be greatly effected.

OK Silverdevil I am going to try and make a mount similar to yours, I purchased an alum bar tonight from Lowe's, and will try my hand at making it in the Afternoon Saturday.

Thanks for the pictures.

Also yes you do need a NON ground Plane type ant, to work on the stallion well. Also one other trick DO NOT cut the coax cable it need to be 18 feet on the non ground plane setup. Go to the firestick web site lots of good reading.
