Buying parts from our neighbors to the North

Learned a valuable lesson this month. Do not buy parts from our neighbors/members to the north, Canada unless they use PayPal. Bought a USPS MO and sent it to BC, Canada to cover some FLHXXX parts. OMG! 21 days later it's still not delivered. Canadian customs has had the envelope for 5 days.

Can't even imagine how long it's going to take my box of parts to get to Texas. What started out as a winter project might be a spring project !!!

Just say'n.....

Just me but' I wound't even buy Maple Sirup from Canada after my experience with a Canadian trike. ;)

The exchange rate means nothing if you don't have the parts in a timely manor. But is the problem Canadian customs or USA customs? Might be blaming Canada for a USA issue.

It all depends on if it's coming or going. The delay is usually in the in coming country. I've had the same problem with a set of lifters I purchased from Headquarters just over the border from N. Detroit/Port Huron area. They sat in US customs a few days according to the tracking. No one to blame it's just part of international business. I stay away as much as possible.

buying parts from Canada

I am the guy from Canada that the Texan bought parts from. It always takes a long time for things sent from the states by UPS. It is not Canadian customs that takes so long it is UPS delivery service that causes the problem. It took a longer time for the envelope to even leave Texas than it did to clear Canadian Customs. I am sending the package today. We will see how long it takes to get there. I am using Canada Post not UPS
Just a follow up
Envelope left Texas Nov. 9
Envelope left San Francisco Nov 19
Envelope Arrived at Canadian Customs Nov 20
Envelope Left Canadian Customs Nov 21
Ups left a notice at mail box that Envelope had arrived Nov 23 and could be picked up at post office Nov 24
I don't think it is Canadian Customs that is slow

I am Canadian. It takes a week to 10 days to get something from the US so the problem is the same in either direction. More good news......order parts from Canada and right now you save about 32%. On another note Canadian Harley trikes are the same as USA trikes. Speedo is in Km not miles

DK a sponsor on this site ships the day you order but to get to Canada it is still 10 days.

Nice followup, sure looks like it took the slow boat through the US.

It should not be a question, but if. Just know that no matter what, but when you are dealing with something that crosses boarders it is going to be a longer process. KNOW THAT UP FRONT and deal with it. If you are not in a tight time schedule then buy where you want. Our brother and sisters to the north are more deserving of your business the to the East.
