Brakes

After reading a few posts about brakes I decided to go check mine. 18,000 miles and the pads on the back are paper thin on one side of rotor and 3/32" on the other side of rotor. Will pull front apart tomorrow and get everything to replace front and back. Got to get everything ready because the Cardiologist said when my rehab was complete I could ride again:clapping:3 days this coming week and two days the following week:D . Had my quadruple bypass on June 13th and really been trying to follow dr's orders so I can live a few more years.

Michael,

I read that thread is the main reason to check mine. Sure glad I did. And have been thinking that while I am doing it will flush and change fluid. Not in a big hurry just want it ready in two weeks. Hard to watch it sit.

I'm not an expert, but I was concerned by your original post. The brake pads should wear evenly on both sides. The fact you said they were worn thin on 1side makes me think your caliper was bound up & not moving/operating properly. They need to open & close on both sides of the rotor and move freely.

Good luck & make sure you get the correct pads for your year/model.

#1 on even pad wear, this is a usual sign of binding and a lack of lube on slider pins

Clean the caliper piston before pushing it in to keep crud out of dust boot
