I've been asking this for a few yrs now. WHY don't some of these Big Bike Builders do a TRIKE ? Do something off the main stream. NOT just a fancy paint job to cover up stuff. BUT some real down to earth BUILDS. Something really different . Come on even 32 inch front wheel or big fattys in the rear. Custom tour packs ... Some body mod's. ????

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember Biker Build Off did a trike build a long time back. One of the builders was that english !@#$ Russell ?? and Paul Yaffe, maybe.
It would be great if they did something new, starting with trikes that we all drive now, would be nice to see some new ideas that we can use on our trikes. If they did something like Biker Build Off I would rather see them do a real build instead of that fake rush time frame junk, but maybe the TV fools still thing Trikes are a fad. :Trike1:

% I agree 100% with you

I remember a few trikes being built on TV, but not necessarily on "Biker Build Off". OCC built two, Kount's Kustoms built one on Counting Cars. Anyone else remember any others?

I thought I had remembered a show with Canadian Brothers as part of a build off that did a neat looking trike? Maybe it was all in my mind but I think it happened a few years ago.

Bike build off's are good to watch but I prefer to see what common folks can do in their garages.
The build off's do give us something to think about or see something done differently but most of us will never have the equipment they have .

This is one I started. I will get back to it before long. Can't work in cold weather. Uncle author won't let me. LOL

245x45x18 rear tires with 10 inch wide wheels. Rolled and wrapped fenders. A small body will be added once I decide how I want to do it.
Something like this:

I will be adding a street glide seat to add some room in the rear as well. This is a 2005 super glide.
I have some ideas as where I want to go but will do research and see what I can or need to fab up to finish the look.
I have no special tools, only welder/grinder's, belt sanders, port a band, torch and my hands.
I'm just not afraid to cut weld or fab stuff.
I have made some mistakes that took some time and work to correct but I learned from them.

I think the Zeel Brothers are from Canada, they did the Bobster.

I remember the one Russel did, neat looking Trike. Yaffe modified the snot out of a Triglide a few years back and offers parts to roll your own.

Thanks Mike, I couldn't find it on my quick search, I thought he did one for one of the shows.

They were always in such a hurry to finish on time, a lot of time they put together crap. I remember J James having to replace a head on the side of the road. I remember someone having to find a carb when the one they used was junk. I remember a seat that was held on with Velcro flying off and I remember B Lane burning his rump because he routed the exhaust out from under the seat. Show, no go comes to mind. Stretch them out so you need a parking lot to turn around, no ground clearance so you scrape the pegs, small tanks so you have to stop every 50 miles. No suspension. Things like that make bikes trash for me. I like bikes that are functional, rideable, and not not just something to look at.

I agree, Roadking, but all of the builds are with v twin engines. I would like to see someone using other engines such as the boxer 4 or 6. I think the Valk is a beautiful engine and could be used. And I'm sure that other engines if cleaned up could be used also. Why not think out of the box, with the exception of the 350?

:Agree:The Harley style V-Twin has been done to death, would love to see something else.

I've waited patiently on the series producers to come knocking on my door to get something different (i.e., VW powered trikes). But, alas, they seem to have overlooked my sweet disposition and great experience that could bring in a winner series of shows. That's OK, I know that Nova is a top notch brand to build - I could supply the basics; frame, fairing set, and other custom components - and an independent team could build on camera. Great for an onsite competition. Everybody starts with the same kit and builds to the same music.
