Have many of you put a belly pan on your 1800 Gold Wing trike? I am going to replace my over flow tank for the radiator and want to add a belly pan. I want to add the belly pan but I am not sure how it mounts on the trike.

I have an 09 Gold Wing with a Motortrike KIT with aqua boards.

I put the lovered one on my trike. I have a 2012 Goldwing with the Roadsmith converstion kit. The lovered one has slots and I had to cut the slots so I could slide it up. I could not get the running boards pulled out far enough to go over the bolts. If I had to buy another one I would get the one without the lovers because they have the slot already cut. Cutting the slots for the right place is pretty hard. It you can get your trike upon something where you can get under it then it wouldn't be that hard to put on. If you can't you need someone else to help on the other side.
Hope that this helps.

I have the louver ones as well and but it on a couple of weeks ago. I however was able to pull everthing out ok and was able to install just fine. Took about 30 minutes tops.

I have a set of car ramps that are only 6 inches high and Pulled the back of the trike up and it gave me just enough highth that I was able to work at a natural angle while setting on the floor. Worth noting I do not have running boards.

There are two nuts on each side of the trike near the front trike.

The Aqua Shields are going to cause you some problem. I had my belly pan on before the conversion and my installer was able to work around it. You will probably end up removing the Aqua Shields, doing the instal and then reinstalling the Aqua Shields. Also, the way the front of the Aqua Shield mounts will create issues. Get the two piece belly pan and just don't bother with the front section. Some kits will let you modify that part and still use it but I just could not get mine to go back no matter how hard I tried. The reduction is protection is very minimal so don't let that stop you from putting the belly pan on. The scars mine has is proof the work!!!

The belly pan on our '04 came with it when we got it. It is a non-louvered pan, The temp gauge has stayed below the 1/2 mark and it has been in the upper 90's to as high as 103° here. Don't know if it has the slots or cut-outs for mounting as I haven't had it off.
There are a few styles, louvered, non-louvered and I've seen one where just the front removable part is louvered. The ones with the open cut-outs to the outside are easier to install, as the bolts just need to be loosened, and stuff doesn't need to come off like the closed slotted on may. On the pics below you can see the difference on the mounting slots/cut-outs.

The belly pan that I have looks the on in the picture. I think that the Tulsa is the one that has the slots already cut and all you have to is loosen the nuts and slid it up.

The solid one is a picture from Wingstuff's website, and it is an Add-on. The picture on the Tulsa site seems to be identical to the solid one.

Phil, give me a call or see me at Wing Ding. I have the louvered 2 piece stainless steel belly pan from Wingstuff. You need to cut the front piece to fit around the Aquashields mounting supports so you can trace my front piece to get the cut correct. You can come over and we can put your trike on my lift and install the belly pan and Dar can visit with Mary.

Don't spend your money on a Belly Pan. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy a plain sheet of aluminum and a cheap cutting sheers along with two small body clips with the same size screw holes. Measure the length from the two bolts nearest the oil filter area and cut your sheet. Punch two holes in it for the screws and attach the clips. NOW, you will NEVER have to worry about your oil filter getting hit by rocks and you will NOT have to remove your Aqua Shields just to change your oil filter.
Write me if you have other questions.

I installed the Stainless steel louvered belly pan on my trike, I didn't cut any slots and I didn't remove the aqua shields, I just removed most of the bolts and got er done. I did go to Lowes and purchase some stainless steel nuts, bolts and washers to replaced those #@$% slotted screws that were holding the aqua shields on. I won't have to worry about them rusting now. Later on I am going to modify the front piece to mount over the support braces for the aqua shields and get that installed. Its not easy getting those front bolts out but it can be done, its a hell of a lot easier now that i can use a ratchet instead of a screwdriver.

Thanks again to all who responded. We went to Wing Ding and I couldn't find a stainless steel Belly Pan. So I ordered one from wing stuff on line for less than it would have cost me at the show. Put a new recovery bottle on and the belly pan on the other day.

I had to remove the front half of the aqua boards to access the nuts for the side covers so I could put the belly pan on. It fit well only had to cut about 6'' off the front of the pan.:)
