I thought Motor Trike rear ends were maintance free. I just took the rear end apart on my wife's trike and the bearing that is next to the pully on the left side is shot. It is not a sealed bearing as is the one on the other side, surely it is susposed to be, there would be no way to grease or clean it without taking the whole thing apart. If it is not susposed to be a sealed bearing then every one of them will fail. I wonder if the seal got knocked off some how ?
Anyone else have this problem ? I will call MT on Mon. and ask. I can't figure out how to get the pulley off, the whole thing came out in one piece from the housing the right axle is still in. Do they have a manuel for these things ?

Thanks for the help,
SR

I can report that I have 45k miles and no seal issues on my Motortrike rear end.

As far as manual for disassembling the rear end, several years ago I ask a dealer about that out of curiosity and he told me he would have to ship the rear to Motortrike for repair. I can tell you its either a 7.8 or 8.8 Ford rear end they buy used and modify for the trikes.

Motor Trike has a 3 yr unlimited mileage warrenty. How old is your kit? They are a great CO. to work with issues. Road one on a 99 RK for over 100,000 Miles before buying my present 2010 HD Tri.
