Backrest Installation on a 2006-2013 Wing with heated seat

Anyone out there have any issues with installing a back rest that requires cutting through the seat on a 2006 and newer Wing that has the stock heated seat?

It's not a problem Fred. I put a Utopia on my '06 right after I got it. The good people at Utopia had just developed the new style mount to allow heated seat use. They have very good printed instructions. The one thing I'd remind you is to keep the tip of the serrated knife you will be using pointed toward the front of the seat. Seems folks tend to let that blade get away from the seat foundation and that makes getting the mounting hardware in place a bit difficult.

Kind of hard to take a long knife to your seat isn't it? I did my 2010 and followed instructions and had no problems. Do a search and you may find a video such as the one I watched.

I had a Utopia on my 2004 Wing but I"m thinking seriously about the Show Chrome. Sits a little lower and I like it but I have the kind with the bar and the passenger armrests and my gal can't ride with it. I need to sell it and get one that mounts through the seat, which is the reason for my inquiry. Got a 2012 now and was concerned about cutting through wiring.

Mine came with a Utopia. I would have a problem cutting a perfectly good seat. Just follow the instructions and go slow. GOOD LUCK

I used the wife's electric knife but don't tell here that, LOL epper:
