OK, got back from the dealer a couple hours ago from having 1000 service, accessories (purchased with the deal) installed, upgrade the audio and install the DK customs shock kit as well as the oil filter relocation and oil cooler.

The good:

Thumbs up on the shock kit. Bike rides better and steers way easier without being squirrelly.

Thumbs up on the oil filter relocation/cooler. The dealer didn't like the way the oil cooler was crammed in the little spot and doesn't think it will do much good, but pulling the hard hill coming up out of the valley at 80mph/100 degrees, at the top I stop to check oil temp and it was 250. Two weeks ago at 80 degrees it was running 260-270.....

The factory stage one audio. It's not much louder, but is much clearer and more distortion free at the higher volumes required for 80 mph on the interstate.

The bad:

I had asked them to adjust the passing lamps, which were kitty-wampus when I got the bike (they missed it during pre-delivery). They didn't do it..........

After I had driven 30 miles to get home, as I am about a half mile out, I stopped at a stop sign. I smelled oil burning, but I was behind an old beat up pickup, so didn't think a whole lot of it. After I turned, still following that pickup, I looked down on both sides and checked my rearview mirrors. I didn't see any oil nor blue smoke, so continued home. As I got less than 100 ft from my driveway, the oil light comes on. I hit the kill switch and coasted in. Upon inspection, it had blown a hose off the oil filter adapter at the oil filter and oil was everywhere except in the pan where it should have been.

So far, the dealer is handling it OK. He sent the tech to my door to fix it (60 mile round trip) and get some oil in it. I'll be taking it back tomorrow for a good bath and will discuss possible long term damage, oil soaked left rear brake pads, oil soaked drive belt (are they oil resistant?), etc......

Oh yeah, they installed a stage one purchased with the bike, but didn't do the stage one fuel map. Service writer told me they generally don't do it when changing the pipes and A/C.........BS......I'll do it myself as I have a tuner and cables........as well as do the auto-tunes

YMMV

Its frustrating when you pay for a service from a shop that has trained professionals working for them and you don't get what you pay for, with that said I try to be calm and remember that we are all human and we all make mistakes. Its how the dealer handles the problem, this is what can turn a customer from calm and understanding to angry.Sounds like they are trying to correct it,but as far as the fuel remap i am not buying their story.

Sounds like you had an interesting service. I think a meeting the the top guy is in order.

Service

As I remember , AZ has quite a number of HD dealers........hope this one

takes care of you, but by all means, let’s give him a chance!

Methuselah on a crutch! I'm so sick of boneheads.I gotta do my job 110%, if I screw up things get broken and people killed.I gotta randomly pee in the cup.Maybe dealerships should require same of thire employee's.

Wow! That is really good news, surrounded by a bunch of disappointing news. :xzqxz:

I read your other thread, and just now saw this one.

I know techs are not mechanics anymore, and that they are human, and, as you said, can make mistakes...but I also see and agree (though, unfortunately it is financially unrealistic to expect of Dealerships) with Old Road Dog's perspective on the matter.

I truly hope they get this totally resolved for you.

Harley states the engine must be retuned when stage one is done. States it on the ad for the kit.
