Does anyone remember when new Harleys came from the dealership with an OEM toolkit?

I seem to remember that my 82 Electra Glide came from the factory with a toolkit. Sure it was just the bare essentials, but it was enough to keep you on the road in minor roadside emergencies.

Nowadays, the MOCO is so cheap, that they sell us $35-40K trikes with no toolkit whatsoever. I've bought 3 trikes and 1 bike from Harley in the last 6 years and none of them came with a toolkit. For trikes this really is a shame because you can't take the rear wheel off without a lug wrench. I liken this to a car manufacturer selling you a car without a lug wrench. Would you buy a car without one? I wouldn't.

I ended up buying an aftermarket toolkit for all of my trikes/bikes.

I guess this is just the MOCO's way of getting every dollar they can...

My 2007, 2009 came with the tool roll. MoCo changed to the "Swiss Army Knife" looking thing a few years back. I kept the kit from my 2009 and gave the new owner the one that came with my 2015.

when I had the triglide it came with a tool kit and it was a 2010..

I would check with your dealer as they are suppose to make sure the tool kit are on the bikes..

Same with my 11T/G. Plus Head set, and a Harley branded duffel bag.
And the dealer threw in, A shirt and the first two services no labor charge..

I must have PO'd two separate dealers because the two 09 TG's, one 11 XXX, and one 09 Deluxe all came without one.

I just called my last dealer and they told me they don't come with one. The only thing the 09 TGs had was two pieces of soft sided luggage for the trunks. Must be a dealer thing...

Dealer thing my ass  ...You were ripped off. It should be in the small pouch in the rear of the tour pak next to the owners manual. My 2014 T/G has the same one as pictured above for the FLRT.

Maybe so, or it could have been because it was a first year model (TG) and they hadn't thought of it yet. I ain't sweating it either way. I sold the 09 TG's and I have an aftermarket toolkit for the 11 XXX that beats anything the MOCO could offer. Just thought it was strange that I didn't get one at two dealers in different states.

Not a dealer thing, more like a theft thing, someone with sticky fingers got them. My 05 Electraglide Classic, and my 06 Ultra came with the tool kit, my 2010 Triglide came with one.

Sounds like the dealers just decided to not include it on your purchases. I like most everyone else got one. A tire iron for the rear wheels would not be much good without a jack. So I can see why they do not include one. The jack would take up way to much room. I carry a can of fix a flat for emergency nail holes. Knock on wood never used Anything more I have AAA and Hog membership road service.

Some dealers will not have prices In the HD catalog. This way they are able to mark it up. Yes there are dealers who do this. So it does not surprise me some tool kits don't make it.

:Agree: Besides there isn't room for a spare tire either....;)

I hope you aren't talking about actual wrenches. They come with a folding tool pack. It is like a large fold-up pack of allen wrenches. It has a torx, phillips screwdriver, flat blade screwdriver, allen wrench, etc,etc...
Not really a large tool kit.
Pix's are in prior posts. But if you was to get enough tools to perform much of a repair on the road, it would cost another $500. Plus you should carry a torque wrench, extension, & socket to keep track of the rear wheels.
What you get is a kit to maybe get you to cell service to call a dealer. Minus tape or wire......

This is the tool kit they used to include, if it didn't come with one, someone took it. The bikes and trikes came with them right from the factory, it isn't dealer supplied. When my 2010 Triglide came off the truck, the tool roll was in the trunk of the trike.

Yeah, I had never seen one of those until you posted the picture. I bought both 09 TGs at Patriot HD in Fairfax VA and the 11 XXX at Ray Price HD in Raleigh NC and all three trikes didn't have one. My 09 Deluxe didn't have one either and it was bought at Harley Haven in SC. I never thought to ask during either purchase either, so it's my fault I guess.

Doesn't matter though because the XXX is my last trike (unless they come out with something real spectacular in the next few years.

Thanks all for the info.

Yep, and I still have most of them. That swiss army knife POS is something else isn't it?

As Keystone said. I've also added to my "road kit".

Have 3-4 of these bag kits that have come with the my bikes.. Think they came in bikes from about 2000 up to 2008, I think. Surprising two of my kits were missing the "8in1" screwdriver. I went to the dealership where I've bought my bikes and they replaced the screwdriver, no questions. Think their mechanics have a toolbox full of 'em.

That sorry POS Swiss thingy they give you now is not worth carrying in my opinion. It's missing a 3/8" allen which is one of the main tools. I've given both of mine away.

LoL, see some people trying to sell 'em on eBay for $50.00...

I know they were including them with the 09 & 10 Triglides because my dad has one with his, and the 2010 I used to have came with one also.

Had the same kit Mike showed in my '09...went with the sale. Have the same kit that came with the '13. Whenever I have service done, I remove the owner's manual and tool kits and anything else of value in trunk and tour-pak......just because!

Tool roll?? My Trike didn't come with one it was a multi fold up thing that said harley Davidson on it..Thats all..

My old Ultra had a tool roll in it..
