Anyone in or near Jacksonville?

How about some more info. Did you try to buy from a private party that won't ship your part? And, I see that your profile shows your location as Hoffman Estates IL, are you visiting or stranded in AZ?

I may be able to help, depending on where the seller is located and how quickly you need the part. Send me a PM if you want to chat off-line.

I bought a trunk for a Victory cross country off ebay. Sellers states he wont ship. i'm not in a hurry at all. i have moved from Hoffman Estates Il to San Tan Valley AZ.
Thanks
Dan

Quick update for regular readers. Dan and I have had several phone conversations. I picked up the trunk and went to the UPS Store for a shipping quote.

Are those people crazy or what? The clerk told me it would be $240 plus packaging to send it from Florida to Arizona. That's absolutely nuts. You could send a 50 pound concrete block for $20 or so.

Needless to say, Dan is looking at other transportation alternatives.

Wow. Never thought of them. Just did an online quote and it looks to be less than $100 on Greyhound. Texted Dan with the info a few minutes ago.

Thanks guys.

Yep, I have always found them to be less than half the price of most shippers, especially on slightly oversize packages.

I shipped a batwing fairing a few years ago from Tennessee to Missouri and it ran about 75.Did all my own packing and did the shipping label on their site and just dropped it off at a store that did UPS shipping.I know rates have went up some since but that was a huge box also.

You all hit the nail on the head, it's not the weight it's the size the box takes up. A box the size that was needed probably had a shipping weight of 40 to 50 lbs or more.

Yup.If I remember right the one for the faring classified as a 75 lb package and it weighed like 30.Box was probably 36x18x18 roughly. That policy was a killer when I shipped a set of crashbars.

Shipping is a killer. Had a buyer for the OEM hardbags and brackets off a Yamaha, because of the large boxes needed, shipping cost more than the parts. I told the buyer, but I don't think he believed me. Sold them, the fairing and trunk bracket at garage sale for 25$. Same problem with the OEM exhaust from my Sportster. A member on a forum really wanted a complete oem system, but the shipping made it not cost effective. Told him look on CL, I picked up Sporty mufflers for 30$ for the Yamaha.

stay away from the ups store if there is a ups depot around they are cheaper. I was trying to ship a goldwing seat the ups depot wanted $60. ups told me it would be cheaper at the post office. I put in a box and they shiped it for $20 some $ try the post office

Postal Service tells me it's an overweight item and will have to ship on a freight truck. The Victory tour pack is one of the biggest I've ever seen.

Still costs too much to ship. I'll brave the homeless people and drug addicts at the Greyhound station next.

(I've got a CCW license and IWB holster, so not to worry, unless of course, you don't hear from me any time soon)

(PS: For any gun haters out there, that means the mission failed :()
