Anyone have mounts for a cane or crutches?

First of all I admit that I am a total newbie on my Freewheeler. Where I live they do not allow you to take a test ride on a 3-wheeler because most riders only have a 2-wheel endorsement on their driver's license and we also have to get a 3-wheeler/side-car endorsement on our driver's license in addition to the 2-wheel endorsement.

I am still getting used to the handling issues and have read many topics here about handling. For now I am going to assume it is just me on a learning curve but the Service Manager at my dealership did say I could bring it in and he would have someone with 3-wheel experience ride it to see if there was anything up with the bike or if it is just me. I may take him up on that as far as the handling is concerned.

My reason for posting though is to ask if anyone here needs to carry a cane or crutches with them and, if so, what do you use for mounts? I don't have a luggage rack and I don't really want to put one on if I can find another way to mount my cane or crutches on the bike.

Any advice on mounting a cane or crutches securely to the bike would be greatly appreciated.

THANK YOU

I've seen a couple setups with guys attaching a piece of PVC pipe to their frames. As far as crutches google golf bag for motorcycle and see some of those results.

Say is the Detour bar still there ???? My Tue night hang and Alki on Thursday..

I put lowers on my FLRT. I then put the HogTrough locking covers on them (with water bottle holder). On the left lower I have a folding can holder. I had this set-up un my 2009 Tri Glide also. HogTrough made the first holder for me. I later had it modified. I still have the original.

You can get a cane that will slide down into itself and will easily fit in your trunk. I put mine on top of two bags , some tools , and a jacket and gloves in my freewheeler trunk . You could also get the rack and put a bag on top of it if you want but that is not necessary.

My cane easily collapses small enough to fit in the trunk. For $12 I bought an extra and just leave it in the trunk.

Boy, lotsa 'gimps' riding trikes these days :D

More and more every day LOL

They sell great folding canes in Walgreens for around $20 last time I needed one. Personally, I think the coolest way to carry a nonfolding cane if you already have one would be to strap a rifle scabbard down one of the fork legs and just slide it in there. Guarantee you it'd get a lot of looks from the cagers!! :)

Exactly the ones they have at Walgreens. I think they're rated to 250 pounds or something like that. Very useful on flights, too, since they fit into the seatback pocket on airplanes. Only took ONE time traveling with a wooden cane, which was taken from me by a stewardess and put in the closet up front, to make the foldup cane my traveling partner.

Why? Oh, the cane might get in the way of passengers if we had to deplane fast, is what she told me. Yeah and it would STOP me from deplaning if it's in the closet up front, wench!!

Yep,we have one of those folded up in our trike trunk,in case it's needed. Sherry was able to quit using a cane about six months ago but it uses so little space,I've left it alone.

Have a 2015 Freewheeler and am a right A/K amputee. Haven't been able to use a prosthesis, so I use crutches to ambulate. I'm 6' 4", and the crutches are 58". Attached some KOLPIN ratcheting ATV brackets to the passenger handholds. They're very strong and secure; release with the push of a button. Had them on for a year with no problems. Working on a way to mount the crutches down the right side to open up the passenger seating.

Try to send some pics when I get it worked out.

Thanks everyone

Thank you everyone for your ideas. I guess I should have mentioned that while I do use my cane because of arthritic knees, it is not foldable because it is made by Cold Steel. (You can look up the Cold Steel sword cane.) But I like some of these ideas and I'm pretty sure I will figure out a way to mount it. Thanks very much!!!

I use a cane for my current disability. I used to only have a wooden cane but in order to keep riding I got the Free. At that time I purchased a collapsable cane and it has been so handy. Like someone mentioned earlier, its great for flights as you can fold it and store it in the compartment in front. As for using it with the Free its great. I fold it all the way down and have it on a sleeve which has my registration, insurance, and my cane. I keep my wooden one in the car so I have a cane everywhere I might need one. Hope this helps some.
