Anyone going to Sturgis

Was just curious if anyone will be in Sturgis this year,I will be there on my Road King and staying at Shade Valley Camp grounds.By the sounds of it the crowds may be down this year which doesnt bother me at all.

My wife and I and another two couples have been staying at Shade Valley the last few years. This would've been my 19th time attending the rally. We had reservations for this year but we were concerned due to my wife's health issues. COPD. Shade Valley was nice enough to allow us to push our reservations back to next year even after their cut off time.

Instead we decided to stay at American Creek Campground in Chamberlain SD, and moved it ahead a week before Sturgis. We toured around the area, making it out as far west as Wall Drug and the badlands.

I really like the Dakota's and love the rally, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if it ended up killing my wife.

Next year!(not killing my wife, but attending the rally)

Made me sick and envious watching all those bikes, trikes, and motorhomes heading west when we were heading back east this past Friday.

Enjoy the rally and stay safe!

Well I talked to my middle son in Durango & he finished some business & he and his girlfriend loaded up his toyhauler & they are headed up there.

UPDATE:

They arrived in Sturgis safely from Durango. He is trying to socially distance & conduct some business, not really there to party/socialize.

Heh .......... I'm burned out on Sturgis. Went the first time in the mid 60's. Only time I missed was when I was in country. Last time was the yr after the 75th. Haven't been back since. It has become gentrified. Back when the Jackpine Gypsies mc ran it it was fun. Once the city got involved it started going down hill more and more every year. A lot of the long time mom and pop vendors quit coming because of the city licensing fees and stall rental increases. :gah:

Maybe a little rioting and everyone comes home virus free. I hope everyone comes home a-okay and enjoyed themselves. :clapping:Everyone needs some fresh air and socializing. I've never known of any trees that will make people sick.

I kinda wanted to go this year but the 2 day ride from Florida would have been too much hassle:(

You haven't missed much. As I said early on, very few of the original mom and pop vendors still come. They have been priced out by the greed of the city and the state. There used to be a couple from FL that came up for years. Had a booth in what was referred to as the alley. They made really high quality chaps, vests and jackets. We still have the set they made for our now 30 yr old. His daughter wears them. :D

I thought the Antifa jerks were supposed to cause mayhem. What happened to that plan???

I've been watching the live video to see the riots. I haven't seen any. Guess the Antifa folks can't find their way out of Portland. Maybe they just want to stay where they have political asylum...... Jim

If they dare to riot there, they'd have to deal with outlaw motorcycle clubs who are among the visitors. I believe that South Dakota is a 'Red' state.:clapping:

WWII was an ANTIFA movement

What's the latest on Antifa jerks crashing there?

Well, my Father U.S. Army Major and my Uncle USMC, Sgt. both sacrificed 4 years fighting fascists in Germany, Italy, & Japan (Yes, two theatres of combat) SO I suppose you could call them ANTIFA. And several family members in Poland were forced into camps and never came out.

They're both deceased, but what they gave to all of us was liberation from fascism and the freedoms we enjoy today.

Seems proper we we just thank them for being ANTIFA, and not glorify fascists.

Oooooh, look, an ANTIFA poster from 1943.

You dishonor those who gave all to fight fascists when you promote fascist ideas.

I am thinking these ANTIFA clowns didn't have enough carfare to get to Minneapolis, so they decided to stop by Sturgis. Just the real morons made their presence known and were escorted out of town with their self-proclaimed 1st Amendment Rights to cause chaos, disruption and destruction.

We got home Friday

It seemed a little slower pace this year

A lot of the big vendors seemed to be missing

Most of the fast food places were drive thru only

We stayed down at hot springs with the colleges cutting back on renting dorm rooms

We won’t do that again, just a bit to far out.

Hopefully the virus will be a non issue for those who went

A couple of things we would have like to visit were closed

Not the most exciting Sturgis, but we were ready for a road trip

Yeah, I saw a YouTube video of them finally making an appearance. Shows you what morons they are to even think about going up against a bunch of bikers that are all most likely armed to the teeth. They are lucky it was to police that escorted them out of there. Those bikers might have drug them out on a rope behind their bikes. They don't have a clue just how lucky they are. But now the media can tell everyone what major protest they had.

Anybody see that video where the female biker got too close to a baby bison for a pic, was charged by the grownup bison whose horns ended up tangled in her pants, dragging her across the highway, and finally ripping the pants completely off of her... geesh... after all the warnings everywhere about not approaching the wildlife...

I've not seen the video but judging our education system now, maybe she couldn't read.

This is nothing new. In fact, it happens regularly, rally or not. The herd in Badlands Nat'l Park roams at will. Many signs along the road that traverses the park. Ditto Yellowstone. The area is home to several species of venomous snakes. All related to my ex wife it seems ............ :D Yet without fail, every year, people will leave the marked trails or the elevated catwalks only to be bitten. I feel for the poor snakes. One of them will contract COVID-19 from some damn Democrat because of this. :D

This being my 4th trip to Sturgis i knew what to expect, but two of our group where newbies to Sturgis and i forwarned them about the drunks, weekend hell raisers and just plain stupid people.Well they seen all of this and more but we had a great time,a buddy of mine has went out every year for 30 years(dont know why) but he was a great tour guide and i saw country i havent seen before. It will be my last trip out there, too many other places to go_On a side note i talked to the guys from Pro Action shocks and they are very knowledgeable folks. He even offered me his trike to ride to check out the shocks but he was set up at Black Hills HD in Rapid City and it was a zoo so i passed, but i will be buying a set this winter.

My son and his girlfriend got back to Durango late last night. He was there conducting business & stayed away from the crowds.

Uh-huh ............ I totally agree. Those that went did so going in, knowing what the risks were. No one to my knowledge was forced at gunpoint. There was a reason the Kerrville, TX gtg was cancelled as a precaution. I feel badly for those ultimately infected by those that went. I will light a candle for them.

It was crazy thinking of going to Sturgis and not getting infected. They are going to start a third wave of this crap! The stupidity is beyond conception.

@nucseal ............ And a bunch of the fools are from TX. I'm sure the Bandidos and Scorpions were well represented at Gunners saloon on Main St. That is if they bothered to leave their enclave up by Hill City. With luck, none of the burrows were infected by human contact. :(

If everyone in the US would quarantine themselves ''Simultaneously'' and make no contact with anyone for 30 days or more the virus will ''Not'' go away.....

It will just be dormant till the quarantine is over and people make contact again...

It like all virus it has to run its course....[Herd Immunity]....

Get over your fears....Let me be the first to break it to you, You are all gonna die at some point...If the virus was to just go poof and disappear this morning :xszpv:....I a-sure you when you get tomorrows newspaper they will still have an Obituary Page..

Your born and then sooner or later your dead...

Then i'll just have to live longer than you.....I'm a realist Mikey' Look you were just like i was in Nam, You had to step over body's of Gooks like i did. For me that was 54 years ago...Also i lost a few buddy's over there.....It was just their time on earth and i feel like there is a big roulette wheel up in the sky and when the ball falls on your number you are dust and there isn't a damm thing that anyone can do to change it.....At this point i have had 54 more years that they didn't have to carry on with their life .. But for what reason I'll never know or understand.....

This is I guess why I live life with a gallows sense of humor. When the man topside pulls ones pin, that's it. All over ....... Done. No reruns in life. :wave4:
