Tried watching a couple times & it seems the overlying theme this go~round is: bash the USA.

Politics has taken over, and makes these games unwatchable for me.

The IOC just banned the Statue of Liberty stickers on the US women's hockey team helmets. Also lots of medal winners from other countries have bashed Trump with banners etc.. Really?

Was reading over the weekend, wife was watching ice skating. Glanced up and thought Hunger Games was on or a remake of Space Balls. Where the hell did they come up with that F$##^##@ doing commentary on ice skating. Looks like he's got a bad plastic air piece on. That is something you just can't "un-see".... OMG!!!

C'mon, you expected less ? And no, I haven't watched it.

I guess I’m the only one watching. I still enjoy the Winter Olympics. Here it is after 1am and I’m still up watching Snowboard Cross !

I like to look at the competitions from the participants view. These athletes devote hours and hours getting to their skill level. Getting together every couple years to compete it exciting and hopefully fulfilling. I enjoy Winter Olympics but not enough to stay up way past my usual bed time! I was glad to see "Carrot Top" White lay down that last run!!! :clapping: :clapping:

Watched the girls lose to Canada in hockey last night. No sound, had the jukebox on. Only watched the game, played solitaire on my tablet during the breaks. Turned it off at the final buzzer. No politics when they're skating on the ice...

You probably like to watch grass growing also.....

I got hooked on curling several Olympics ago. There is much skill and strategy there. I agree it isn't really a fast paced sport but there is a lot of thinking going on there which I think is what got me. I now try to figure out what they are going to do. I first thought it was a sport for us old farts but these young kids are very much into it too. So I think it's the strategic challenges that draws people to it. If strategy isn't your thing then it probably isn't for you. Curling is the only thing I've been watching but having trouble with it now due to all the commercials.

Yep, like curling. Also cross country skiing, biathlon, bobsled, luge, skeleton, ski jumping, speed skating and hockey. Turn off the sound and put on the stereo. You shouldn't need the inane commentary to enjoy a sport.

I've watched about 10 minutes of the olympics but actually did see who you're talking about. That's Johnny Weir, lipstick and all. In today's screwed up society he's a "true American hero!" So brave.....

Been watching that myself. Don't know why either. Looked up the rules, they didn't make total sense on the first read. Seems a game of equal parts skill and strategy. Kind of like cow pasture pool, in a way.

Those ND twins got the job done last night! One made the tying score that put the game into overtime, the other made the winning goal in the shootout.

Bittersweet victory for ND. State ended the women's hockey program at UND this year - budget cuts. Our girls will have to go out of state to continue any hockey ambitions...

I have watched a lot of the stuff and how on earth some of you can complain about politics, felons, drugs, money grabs, etc. being part of the games is beyond me. What is political about watching guys ski 50 kilometers? What felons participated? Drugs? Besides the russians, what are you talking about and who is grabbing any of your money if you watch? I loved the biathlon stuff. I liked the speed skating....for the most part. That short track stuff is survival of the fittest! Since many of you didn't watch, you missed out on some epic hockey especially with the USA women. I DON'T like the opening or closing ceremonies. I also passed on the figure skating. I did watch the curling and how the US team came back from being also rans into being champions. Some disappointments with the US teams, but oh well. Can't win them all. I thought it was a crime people were critical of Vonn for not winning the downhill especially when it came to light that her ski was coming apart. How was it her fault that her ski broke? Tough luck, but get real, she still came in 3rd on a ski that was missing a big piece. The competitors in the luge and the skeleton definitely have a death wish. Apparently many of you missed the guy winning bob sled by crashing across the finish line with his sled flipped on it's side going 80+ mph. If you didn't watch, to bad for you. You missed out on some really good competition and some compelling finishes.
