Hi everyone, my wife and I are new trike owners, a Gold Wing 1800 with a Motor Trike conversion. We have had it about a month and a half and are planning our first longer trip. Not a month long type of trip, but 4 or 5 days. Kind of a "welcome to the trike world" trip. Anyhow, part of that trip would involve going from Thunder Bay, ON to International Falls on Canada Highway #11. A couple of questions, is this highway busy? We like the back roads and little as possible traffic. Also, are there services spaced close enough together for the Gold Wing? In particular, fuel.
Thanks for the help. I have been lurking on this site for a while and thought I would join in the fun.

Don't know the road, but good luck with trip. Personally, I usually strap on an extra gallon. Just in case.

We haven't been on #11 in Ontario, but we did ride across Manitoba on #16, which appears to be a similar road. We found the time on #16 to be MUCH less busy than the Trans Canada Highway (#1).

What we did find, was that gas stations were few and far between when we were off the main highway. I would assume that may be similar in Ontario, although the prairies of Manitoba were no doubt exceptionally sparse. We learned to fill up when we saw a station, and to avoid riding until we had low fuel in the tank! You should find more towns than we did in the prairies, and I would think each town would have a gas station.

NOTE: August 1 is a summer holiday all across Canada. EVERYTHING was closed -- even most gas stations and restaurants. I'd suggest you do not plan your riding in Canada on that particular date unless you gas up the night before!

You will love the trip! Enjoy every minute and take lots of pictures :D.

I've ridden from thunderbay to Calgary and there is nothing between towns. Gas up when you go thru a town and if stopping overnight plan on getting to a town for the night. The people are very friendly and the sqeeters are numerous and large plan on being inside at night.

Good road, not a ton of traffic. Be on the look out for the Bears though. They tend to suddenly appear on the roadway. Never seen a Moose, but I've been told they are in the area.
