I will be going to Thousand Islands, NY for a week in June, I have heard that it is a beautiful area and have not been up in that area before.....supposed to be a lot to see like Boldt Castle, Heart Island. etc....anything else up in that location that might be worth seeing? Will be renting a house as a home base and riding to places of interest each day, any suggestions are welcome.....thanks!

The uncle sam boat tour is a must. Take the Singer Island dinner cruise, we had a wonderful time, takes about a 1/2 day. Also the Clayton NY, Boat museum is a must. They give 1 hour antique boat rides several times a day. There is nothing like a ride on a 40 foot wooden boat with twin Allison super charged air craft engines. They also have a smaller boat that holds 6 people that is powered with a 427 big block. The rides goes out around several Islands both on the Canadian and American side. Oh yea if you want to ride the bike there are some nice roads also. I suggest you take a day to ride the Adirondack's. Check out Lake Placid and Lake George. Lots of lakes and Mountain roads to check out. have a great time.

What dates are you going to be in NY?

Thanks Steamer! I appreciate the info and will be sure to take your advice.......... we plan on being there the last week in June........the owners of the house we rented both ride and have offered to show us some nice roads in the area, can't wait.....have seen so much of our beautiful country but never been to Thousand Islands so I am counting the days. After that trip in June, I will be waiting for the New England Rally in Dover Vermont in August and get to meet a lot of Triketalk members, maybe I will see you there too............

</div>I wish we could make the rally, but we have a Ventureriders rally in August here in NY. Also have to work.

If your not in a hurry to get there, you should head up to Harrisburg pa. and run the 15 into NY. pick up the 414 north in Corning NY. to Watkins Glen. stay on the 414 up along Seneca Lake to Ovid NY. now you in our back yard. This is the Finger Lakes region. If we're not working maybe we can hook up. From here you want to take rte 89 north up along Cayuga lake continue north on the 89 to the 104,then 104b then north on rte 3 to rte 12e to Cape Vincent. That puts you in the 1000 islands.

Have a great time.
