Greetings, jut trying to find trike riders in Murfreesboro, TN or the surrounding area who would like to get together and ride.

I have a Stallion trike and know a guy with a honda trike. I'm hopeful that I can find some people to ride with in my area.

I think it sure would be something to see to have a dozen or so trikes riding together.

I'll keep this thread for later - Wife and I are planning that move in a year....That would just be cool to have a few guys to show the way! Our only concern is rain - It looks like it rains more there than here in Chicago - And more rain is not what I'm looking for. jc

As long as I now have a "source" in Murfreesboro...lol

The only thing we are worried about is the rain you guys get. Just curious if you find it a problem? But at least you don't get 3 feet of snow like we do!

Thanks

You will be amused at the way people behave just when the weatherman says the word snow down here. People be crazy in a dusting of snow here.

Please do keep this thread and contact me when you move. There are a couple really good groups to ride with here that are open to all and are really good folks.

Clint - I was able to retire earlier than most - Coming up on 64 now, but have been retired for almost 9 years. But getting a bit tired of shoveling snow and the out of control taxes here in Cook County. I pay almost 7K a year in property tax on a small 1600 sq. Ft. Ranch. That's just BS. Finally talked the wife into a move!

We have plenty of people from Ill down here in Sun City west , Az. We ride with a couple from Morrison that worked at the ....3M plant. Illinois plates are all over down here. Skip the snow shoveling and come on down.

One visit and you'll sell your place and move down here ThumbUp

That entire area around Phoenix would be My first choice. But as the wife is not at her best flying, I'm trying to find something in that 500 mile range of Chicago. But to be honest, I'm not sure I can afford the change to Sun City West either! Home price is OK - But the Damn HOA and other fees would negate the lower tax bills. Would just be nice to save $500-600 a month for Riding money! lol

And lets be clear - I was able to retire early.....not retire Really WELL early....

If you want to stay in your area but save a bunch of money,I own a nice home in NW Indiana I'd lease or sell to you, cheap.

Thanks for the offer Clint - But if I'm moving, I am going for at least a bit better weather. Murfreesboro only gets an average of 7" of Snow a year. Might loose only two months of riding as opposed to 5 here. {you know only too well!} And there are so many more riding options down there! jc

we have a lot of retirees here in Stewart County, Tn from Illinois. low property taxes, no state income tax, low vehicle registration, $59, a yr. we have been retired and living here since 1989. my wife is from Joliet. lots of trikes in this area too. last week there were 7 of us, trikes, that went on a 134 miles lunch ride. all retired.

Hi there! Just wanted to mention that my daughter lived outside of there for a couple of years and the humidity was worse than IL! Temps were warmer and not a lot of snow but lots of dreary days and rain. She now lives here in Phoenix and loves it!

I've been retired for 8 yrs, my hubby has been retired for 6 yrs, after both of us spending 28 & 37 years working at 3M back in Cordova IL. We traveled our winters in a 38 ft 5th wheel Raptor Toyhauler...Florida, Texas, AZ and points in between before deciding to sell our 6 yr old home in IL and live here in Sun City West full time. We bought a beautiful totally remodeled bigger home for less $ than we had wrapped up in the IL home, pay 1/4 of the taxes, and even with the higher price we pay for vehicle tags we still are paying less. We love it! Yes, it does get pretty toasty out here in July and August but that is when we will do a little traveling to visit family and friends and best of all?

We never shovel snow or mow grass and the sun shines nearly every day!

And we ride all year around!

Good luck with your decision on where to move to!

BikerMama it sounds great where you are but what about bugs?

Heard you all have some nasty nasties down that way?

Just curious cause the wife and I are getting close to retirement and are thinking of moving away from all the damn snow here.

The rain and Humidity are a question for us also.....But figured the additional rain days would be far better than the 4-5 months of snow. Even if we get a nice day during the winter, the bike usually set up for the winter and the large amounts of salt all over the place stop us from riding. So I figure a 150 days shot to hell ~ Can't possibly have that many more Rain days as we still get rain up here for the summer too. Any thoughts from you guys down there?

Thanks - jc

I'm with LandBetweentheLakes(LBL) TN or fairly close to him in western KY at the crossing of Hwy 41 ((Pennyrile Pkwy (Now I-69) and Western Ky Pkwy)). Great riding all over this area and especially around the LBL area. My bike sits in the garage waiting for those great days in the winter to ride! And we have a bunch, or at least to me we do. I don't know the bottom temp you will ride in but 45 is a great temp for me and if it is up at 55, watch out, the bikes are out! As far as snow, we might get a big one every 2-3 years but it is usually completely gone in 2 weeks, but with anything there are always exceptions. The great thing about our area is you can get to anywhere north, south or east in a fairly short time, making it a great place to ride out of. Favorite area to visit and ride is the Smoky Mtns area, 4-5 hrs away. My coworker has family in Chicago and regularly visits there. Actually he grabbed the train in Champaign to go up this week.

I doubt we get that much snow in a year,on average. Not that much rain and humidity is usually around 30% or much less. Cost of living isn't too bad and you can ride about 330 days/year or more. Texas is a huge state and a great place to retire to.

From Wisconsin

We are from Milwaukee Wisconsin .We moved down here about 9 months ago to Jasper Tn. In Tn winter months we have put 8000 miles on our 2014 Triglide. We drive up to Murfreesboro all the time, if nothing else just for the ride.

Yeah.....Clarksville or Murfreeboro {General area of each} Have a Realtor coming over Sunday. Sure would be nice to be down there before winter!!!! Thanks for the input gang...jc

I'm trying not to get ahead of myself as the house is not even listed yet....but I seem to be finding a few houses in the Clarksville area that we like. Nice Place? Terrible Place?

Clarksville is a nice Army base town. It's about 1.5 hours outside of Nashville.

The only thing bad I can think of is it *always* gets snow every time snow approaches the Middle Tennessee area. It's got to be something about it's geographic location.

The winters are just not as nice in Clarksville as they are in Nashville, Mufreesboro, or Chattanooga.
