Amber Passing Lamps

Is anyone running amber color passing lamps on their TriGlide (or any other bike / trike for that matter)? I've only seen one other bike that had it and really liked how they stood out from all the other car lights that our lights seem to blend into.

Not sure if it's just an amber bulb replacement, an amber lens on the passing lamp or both. Also curious if they are still bright enough to help light up the road at night.

Thanks!

I've run amber passing lamps on my '87 FLST since I bought it new. I think they are more noticable than the clear lenses in daytime riding situations. That being said, I run clear lenses on my FLHTI conversion because I get better light at night.

Your trike should use the same style amber lens replacement as any of the FL style passing lamps. Harley and J&P Cycles carry them. I hope this helps.

Amber light bulbs..I like my LED lights better..But the Ambers come in next if that was the only other option..

Used amber spotlights for years. Actually found they illuminated well in fog and rain. Only switched to spots with blue tint for TG to match paint color. Who needs to see when you look good, right?

I have been running amber Passing Lamps on my 1990 FLHS since I got it in 1993. It was the first mod I did. Any bigger HD aftermarket parts outlet should have the amber bulbs, or you can get the official MoFoCo version from most any HD dealer. The ones for my vintage (2 more years and she'll be considered an antique) are sealed beam, and they come in clear and fluted. The yellow lenses are very noticeable, especially now since a lot of cars have white (or bluish) daylight running lights.

Thanks to all that responded. I'm going to see if I can find the amber bulb and see how that works with the clear lens. Would really like to get the lens in amber too if it's available anywhere. From what I've read about using just a colored bulbs it may not get me the results I'm looking for, but it's worth a try for just a few bucks.

OK, I'm slow on the uptake, but I finally got it. They sell the whole lens kit in amber at J&P and also available at Harley. J&P's is less than $20, HD is $65.

Decisions, decisions.

I've been thinking about using amber, but I can't find it on J&P. I must be looking in the wrong place, can you give me that J&P # for the amber kit.
Thanks for your help.:wave4:

Here's what I found, but not positive it's the right thing.

Thanks for the info, I've been looking for a lens kit ever since I saw some on a bike at Sturgis. The bike's owner said it was part of a kit at had 3 colors & the lens just snapped in place. :gah::Shrug:

That is the correct unit, but be aware that the lamps are sold each, and not by the pair. I've used these same lamps for more than 20 years, and have been happy with their performance.

Thanks for the heads up on being priced "each", but even having to pay for two of them, a set from J&P is less than what's shown in the Harley catalog, which I'm assuming is showing the price for one lens for $65.

does the lamp need a different wire connection on my 12 tg or will they plug right in

Looking at the reviews on the website, one said they plugged right in with no problems, and one said the hookup had to be changed.

Still trying to decide between the Harley version and the one that J&P sells. $40/pair from J&P, $65/pair from H-D.

I run the amber lens from J&P...mine do not just plug in, but you make a simple jumper wire to slide into the factory connectors, easy...then mount as factory light does...
I like them, more of a See Me factor than the light they put out, but they do put out enough light for me, day or night time....
