Honest to God people, I both googled this and searched here but I can't find an answer to this question...

Is there an aftermarket WIRED intercom system that is compatible with a '14-up TriGlide? If so, please let me know. From everything I've read, the Harley version is easy to break. I want to buy something that's going to last, and actually works on my 2015 Triglide.

Some Mfg's make their set-up for use on multiple systems, & you have to buy the cable to mate with the Harley. J&M, Sensa, etc....

Thanks.

It just looks to me like the Harley system I've got is going to be fragile. For example, how the cord on the helmet end plug in ABOVE the mic boom. Crazy.

I bought the iCM headset from Amazon. I have used it for half a year now and it has held up very well.

Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Motorcom-HS-H...sr=8-2&keywords=harley+microphone+and+headset

I haven't tried it myself yet, but Law Abiding Biker has one:

They claim it to be better in quality and 1/2 the price of the HD set, BUT... they recommend that if you are going to use it as a set (rider - passenger) that you not combine it with the factory unit, so you must buy 2. Oh well, it is Made in America at least!

I wish they listed a set for a open face helmet. Those would be awesome. My wife won't wear a half helmet.

I missed something here....

You have the Harley system, but don't want to use it because someone told you it was fragile and might break??? Why not use it until it breaks then buy something else. Might surprise you if it last a long time

Wife and I use the Sena smh-10 wireless headsets because we are on different bikes. Ours are 4 years old and haven't failed yet.

I bought the HD system via sure yoke.com. Same system just a little cheaper. Works good right now:pepper:

Steve, what style helmets do you and Vesta wear with the Sena headsets?

We have them on 1/2 and 3/4 helmets. We don't have full helmets. The trick is the mounting brackets. We buy the 'eggs' separately, then the mounting bracket to match the helmets. The brackets we use don't have earphones, but a 5mm jack. We use ear buds. Stops the wind noise, you can hear sirens and when AC/DC comes on the iPod you can turn the volume up until your eyes bleed and not bother anyone. You can answer your phone if you are so inclined (I don't) Everything is 'automatic', intercom overrides everything, phone overrides music. We have run 9 hours with music running and didn't kill the battery.

I am using mine. They only come with one for one helmet. I want to buy something cheaper for the wife's helmet. The one that came with the bike is installed in my helmet waiting to break.

+1 on the Sena product. We have the next generation, the 20S, but the differences aren't all that much.

One of the best things about the Bluetooth system is that I connect my phone and Gloria connects her phone separately, so I can listen to my music or have it off, and she can listen to hers, or make calls on her phone without me having to listen to it.

LOL ! If you are just looking for a reason to buy a different headset go ahead & do it.

I have been using a pair of them for 4+ years & on three different helmets without a failure. The only thing I don't like is the speakers. They are wired in & are too deep. I have to take out foam in the helmets for them to even come close to a fit.

I also have 3 other helmets with built-in bluetooth headsets. They won't last past 6 hours with intercom & music.

Also with the Harley sets I don't have to make sure they are plugged in for a recharge every time I take them off.

If the battery goes dead completely, I have to re-pair with everything.

And if I want to communicate with another scoot we just use the CB.........

Mine came with it ... LOL !

My wired headset(s) are actually from my '07' Ultra Classic and both still work great now on my '14' Tri-Glide. I just put a little black electrical tape and the connections years ago because I did not like the bend in the cord. Never had any problems on either helmet.

Just wondering.... The Harley headsets...will they work on 1/2 helmets ? The new trikes come with one headset. My wife uses a full helmet, so no problems there, but I like the 1/2 helmets.
