Air Compressor Won't Stop!

The compressor for my air ride suspension won't turn off even with the key off. Before I could disconnect the battery it had well exceeded 100psi. The switch to operate it is not the issue. I disconnected the power cable from the battery to a buss box under the body but that also disconnected my reverse motor. Has anyone here messed with these units? Can you shed any light on what my problem could be?

I would strongly suggest you contact Motortrike immediately and request assistance. I'm not sure why you state the switch is not the problem. If it wouldn't turn off, how do yo know? Some of these air systems use higher pressure in the 140 psi range so I wouldn't worry to much about that. Usually, these systems have a high pressure cut-off switch, or a timer that will only let them run for a few minutes in case of a major air leak so the compressor will not burn up.

Most compressors have a safety plug, When the tank reaches a predetermined maximum PSI' The plug will pop and or bleed off air, But the compressor will keep on running...The better one's will shut off the compressor at that point...

Unless a hose is leaking, Then it will just keep on running...

M/T tech and I have been in communication. They say it's not the handlebar switch. I disconnected the ground from the compressor. NOW I have reverse and all other functions. Still waiting on a determination as to if it's a bad pump or a bad servo.

Glad you got it to stop, Let us know what the problem was , When you get it fixed...ThumbUp

Apparently it was a bad relay pack. It seems there are 5 relays in the pack and it's sealed or something.. The dealer ordered a new switch and wiring harness and relay pack. He said he saw some stuff he didn't like. Maybe it was done wrong. All is good again. Only down for 1 week this time. That's tolerable. 4 to 6 weeks is not. I think my new dealer will wok out.

No sir hogcowboy. I tried to find one but couldn't. The Motortrike rep did not indicate there was one and neither did the shop tech at the dealer.
