General question about bikes with ABS. When a bike has ABS, does installing a trike cancel out the ABS? Anybody know off hand which ones might allow ABS to continue? I am thinking about a Gold Wing, or a BMW LT. Don't know if HD has it on their trike. Thanks, Tom. :)

Tango, I can only answer for a Harley. Yes ABS is available on the touring modles and if you trike an ABS HD bike it usually doesn't work. One board member was have his 09 Ultra with ABS triked and they were ave a devil of a time with the brakes. I'm not sure but I believe the installer gave up on trying to keep the ABS. I had ABS on my police road king that I triked and I was able to rig it to keep the front ABS only.

Mine is in the shop now to have the Champion Trike conversion done, '08 Ultra Classic 105th Anniversary Edition. Dealer said ABS will no longer function. Not sure, but I think it's because the rear wheel speed sensors go away when the kit is installed. Wish I could keep the ABS 'cause I learned first hand that it REALLY WORKS on a two wheeler!!! Had to really jam the front and rear brakes at about 50mph a couple months ago riding two up with my wife. The rear wheel sort of "chirped" once and then it shuddered to a stop with no loss of traction at all!!! The dealer said the trike will stop really well with the big tires and disc brakes on both rear wheels.

Greydog you are correct as to why the ABS goes away in the rear. What I did was run the rear pick up wire to the front and sliced into the front so that the ABS rear sensor was gett a signal from the front sensor along with the front working normally. I still have front ABS and the rear does stop great with the disk brakes.
