I would like to thank Lee Mann for educating me on trike conversions in general.
And for all he has done on my behalf in particular.
If your thinking on going with a Lehman conversion And your on the east coast, he is a good man to talk to.

I have decided to forgo the Paughco conversion in favor of a more complete kit from champion.

The Paughco kit really involved a whole lot of extra work, extra parts and extra expense than i first thought .
I found i would have to relocate the battery, reinforce the motor mounts, buy new pipes from the heads back (not only just to go under the trike because my bike is older than the kits paughco sells. They only go back to 1993 on their kits) replace my right rear saddle bag mounts and right rear crash bar (with a 1993 model) before i could raise the bags required by the kit. purchase a rake kit, not to mention all weld and fitment issues.
Paughco makes an inhouse axle that runs right at $3000 that woild avoid some of those issues but when you are trying to build on a budgit the DNA axle at $2100 sounds better.
I could have made the swing arm from the 1993 work on my 89. Add in wheels, tires, paint and a raked tripple tree.
I figured the cost had just gone up to around $6,300 or more.

By the time is spent the extra money and effort to get my trike the way i wanted it i found i could spend a couple thousand more and releive myself of a bunch of hassle.
The conversion would be easier and i would be on the road sooner.
I really did like the idea of keeping my saddle bags though!

I am going to be doing the conversion myself and im not as young as i once was.

:Trike1: I just started working with Bazooka yesterday and keeping my fingers crossed to get this project underway.
( i would shoot the engineer and get this project going, but I is he!)

Have fun with your build. You'll enjoy it even more, having done the work yourself.
I'm looking forward to it!
I am retired and sick of looking out the window at snow. I need something do anyway.
I always get a case of cabin fever this time of year. (someone give me light therapy )QUICK!

Good luck with the conversion. I had my '93 FLTCU converted locally (Florida) due to my advancing rheumatoid arthritis. Love it and will extend my years of riding a helluva lot.
