9 Dead in Waco Texas

The meeting at the restaurant was a Texas branch of Confederation of Clubs, an organization sponsored by a motorcycle attorney firm, to promote communication and peace between motorcycle clubs. A bit ironic, that.

It is interesting reading some of the biker blogs with a 1% leaning - the spin there is a fight started in the restroom (not over a parking spot as some news articles state), probably by an undercover agent of the BTAF or other agency, then when the fight went outside they were shot down by assorted government agents.

Here is another take on the government conspiracy aspect. This includes the Aging Rebel article but different comments:

Do you have any facts to support this government conspiracy view? The fact that the law enforcement was there is not a conspiracy. When known criminals are meeting it is only good law enforcement to be there. How would you like to have seen law enforcement respond? Just let them fight it out and take to jail the survivors? What if some bystander got hurt, then the response would of been why didn't law enforcement do anything. I think they did exactly what they should of. When the confrontation came outside and weapons were started to being used you take out the aggressors and the whole thing comes to an end post haste. Yes there were people killed. That is sad, but there sure as heck were going to be people killed and it might have been bystanders. These motorcycle clubs are filled with criminals. These are not HOG members, or American Legion Riders or clubs of this type. There is a difference in caring a weapon for protection and caring one because you are going to be the aggressor.

I don't have any facts to support the government conspiracy view, nor do I purport to hold that view. I just thought it was interesting the 1% leaning biker blogs immediately jumped on the theory that the police/TDoPS/SWAT etc. set this up when all the bikers at the meeting wanted to do is ride their machines without being hassled by the Man.

Copy your drift now. Sure the 1% are going to scream conspiracy, but it is obvious with all that many members most carrying that something was going to happen. If it really was a true get together to mend fences then all that manpower would not be necessary. I am gathering that close to 200 members from 5 or so clubs. You don't have a peaceful meeting with that many opinions. They all brought everyone to show who was the dominant club.

Wacko

For them to say anything else would be like a robber going to court and saying hell yes I did it! I'd expect them to say nothing less than what they are saying. I don't expect any of them to proclaim that they went there armed to the teeth with the intention of kicking some rival ass and if our rivals don't show us the respect we demand, we were ready willing and able to put them in their place......in the ground.

Unfortionaly.. John Q Public only sees motorcycles as the common thread, and All riders are thugs of some kind, and does or deals drugs ect.... and we the ride suffer..poor or no service in the local eatery... closer looks from police.

Wonder why people run you off the road ? Most don't know the difference of patches and colors, outlaw clubs and biker orgs. Just my two cents

I'm not sure that is true any more. I remember trips on my motorcycle in the early 70s and cases where motel owners would refuse to rent rooms to motorcyclists. Those days are obviously all gone.. The American public is much more sophisticated today about motorcycles and their riders. There's a big difference between a bunch of guys riding down the road with colors on their back and some 65 to 70-year-old gray-haired guy on a trike riding down the road.

I think the American public understands the difference. The only exception to that may be the riders who try to emulate the one per centers and get undue attention.. In that case they bring it on themselves.
