Fourteen years ago today at about 10am, my wife called and woke me up to tell me to turn on the television. I saw things I would have never imagined could ever happen. I kept watching TV and saw the planes flying into the buildings over and over again. Then the impossible happened when they collapsed.

Later that day, I watched as Howard Lutnick, the CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald begged and pleaded for anybody to call him with any information of any of his employees that were on the 101st-105th floors of Tower 1. Just in that company alone, more than 650 lives were snuffed out almost instantly. I cried harder than I ever remember crying before or since.

When I think back on all this, it makes all the problems I think I have seem small...and actually kind of glad I have them.

I know what you mean!!! I was a TV Repair Technician at the time and thought somehow the channel had gotten changed on the set I was working until I realized this was real time! I was numb setting there watching. When the second plane came in we all knew it was no accident. Then I was very angry!! A VERY SAD DAY .....

GOD BLESS AMERICA !! :xszpv: :xszpv:

I was working in Washington, DC on that day not more than 2 miles from the Pentagon as the crow flies. All phone lines cut off, all rail and bridges out of the city closed and then they let the employees leave.

Hard to believe it's been 14 years... I was at my shop in Midtown Manhattan, I started to walk down 6th Ave , Then i realized i would be of no help, What with all the emergency vehicles headed to the site, So seeing all the dazed people coved in dust and headed uptown with out a clue how to get out of Manhattan' and i know the City well, I stayed and helped by giving directions to them what would be best way to walk out.. After a few hours i got my car out of the garage and drove west over the GWB to home in NJ.. But RT80 was surreal, All east bound were jammed packed with thousands of emergency vehicles...

I was still in the military that day and for some reason I was off and had the TV on. I sat there in disbelief thinking this could not be happening but it was. To this day it gets me upset and start thinking about all the changes we have gone through because of that day. I pray for all the families who lost love ones and for this country. I am not political at all but if we don't take our country back I can only imagine what our kids will see during their lifetime.

As the course of events that transpired on this tragic day unfolded, our great country instantly started to become more unified.

This unification could be seen and felt any and everywhere.

I will never forget that day. We were getting ready to send our daughter to school, she was 9 at the time and saw the footage on the tv. It scarred her for life, but she has turned it into a very patriotic attitude. This kid loves the USA, as well as it's history. Here's a copy of her post this morning. I'm so proud of her and her attitude since this tragic event. God Bless the USA!

Pat her on the back and tell her THANK YOU from all us old geezers!!! I wish more of our children felt that way. :xszpv::xszpv:

That is awesome! You definitely should be proud!!! More young people need to learn what it means to be a citizen of our great country! I gave this country 38 years of service and many years as a volunteer FF/EMT. The Pledge of Alligence and saluting the flag while the Star Spangled Banner is played still warms my heart with pride for our country. My kids grew up knowing that same love of country.

God be with everyone who lost loved ones 14 years ago today and with the families of the Emergency Responders who have lost loved ones due to health complications from their service at Ground Zero since.
