I am converting my 2000 softail standard with a frankenstein trike kit Will my 88 cu engine be enough for freeway travel or will I need to go to 95 cubes

With the setup you are talking about you are not adding that much weight so you should be good to go. You can always go back later and punch out the motor if need be.

More is always better but your 88 will get you down the highway just fine. I went from 88 to 95 and I'm glad I did because the noticeable difference in power makes the trike that much easier to handle and it didn't cost me any fuel mileage to speak of. I like having 95 and it's a improvement I'd do again in a minute but as I said, your 88 inches will work just fine.

how long have you had your Frankenstein Any problems? how about gas mileage did it go down much

1989 Harley-Davidson tour glide ultra champion.

I ran an original 80 " evo with an E-27 cam for 91,000 trouble free miles and the engine still ran just developed oil leaks under the cylinders.

I replaced it with a new 80" evo with E-27 cam (same set up) works great 95% of the time, two up at times I wish I had just a little more umph. 90-93 m.p.h. top speed, runs highway speeds all day long, the five speed tranny works alright also. Uses a might less gas than my friends 103" tri-glide and using cruise control I run up his butt on hills if he doesn't shift down to 5th gear. Hate to follow him for that reason.

I would think an 88" would meet your needs ok.
I am of the school that thinks the more you do to an engine the more you will have to do to an engine and you may pay for it in reliability. If you wish to go a step hotter cam and leave it go and see what you think?
