6th Gear Green Icon ...

the #6 in the speed odometer window went on the blink today...it didn't come on
and then blinked, came on and went off again...short somewhere in dash perhaps...??? not a big issue as I don't use 6th very often but knowing it isn't working properly is going to annoy me...will make an appointment w/dealer since
I still have warranty time left.

As long as it is staying in gear, not too bad an issue. Could be as simple as loose bulb. I also notice, as clutch is pulled in, light goes out. Not sure what switch is responsible for that.

Your bio says it is a 13 trike, you should still be under warranty. Can't hurt to take it to a dealer. Could be something very simple, could be signs of something going wrong. Better Harley pays the $80 an hour trouble shooting.

When you lose the gear light you also lose cruse control. Since you don't use 6th gear much you are probably like me and don't use much cruse control either.

Easy fix would be to remove the speed sensor on top of the tranny and clean it. If that is not it then I would suspect the break switch either in the hand control or check to see if the exhaust has melted the rear brake switch.

As SB said... time for a warranty visit. Since it is an intermittent issue they may not find it and just send you home. That's why the above suggestions.

It is good to get these things on record. If they give you the old "can't duplicate" line at least you will have an audit trail so when it fails permanently a week after warranty runs out you have got something. Good Luck.
