2020 trip for Lola & Us

Next year will work for me for our Route 66 ride unless something else comes up. When it's very hot, I have to ride predawn until I can't take it even with my hydration vest to get back to San Antonio. I have learned to stop and seek shelter prior to getting too overheated.

If we loop around to Kerrville this fall I think we should NOT do Palo Duro Canyon again, however it was fun riding through little towns like Panhandle where I lived when I was in 3rd grade.

Palo Duro Canyon is cool, I remember being there in the 70s;)

I grew up in that part of Texas so when I was a little kid I thought it was just like the Grand Canyon, until I saw it.

When we were there last year the road was closed not too far into the canyon so we didn't get to ride far. Bill paid full price because he doesn't have a Texas Parks pass. He was not happy that they didn't tell us before they took his money.

My trip to CA is off for this year, dr wants to start me on insulin and has advise me to cancel those plans. Could meet you at the bridge and ride thru Marquette with you.

Our trip has changed. Due to the high temps already in the SW.2020-05-08.png we are now thinking leaving from Ohio mid July. 10th or so.

How many miles from 1 to 26?

I will be riding to 1 then home from 26, with a stop in Bethany, OK to visit my brother. That's 2,414 miles. Visiting my brother will only add 29 miles.

I do plan to stop if it gets too hot because a heat stroke would really mess up my record of excellent health.

That map did show Marquette, But we will not be going that way. Working on it more, Rt2 stays down south & that is the way we are going. Not sure how it showed the northern part, but maybe we can go to Kerrville in the Fall with you.

Rt 66 will be another year now. We have done it maybe 5-6 times. We don't do cars. Every year for the last 30 yrs & counting our trips have been on the HD 2 & now 3 wheels. 48 states & 7 country's. Decided on the northern route as the sw is already hitting triple digits so July would be bad. We need to do 66 in May or June, China virus screwed up this year

O well, 120 near Baker,Ca one summer & 113 when we got to Vegas @7pm. Just dont do it if we dont have to, but we will . Go on your car trip we will RIDE. Thats why we have HD for over 40 yrs, & all tours on them last 30. We love to ride all summer every year. Drive in the cold weather.

July 1, 2020. Just in time for my trip to Ohio. I cannot imagine being that close and not going back. :clapping:

Better leave soon.. Takes at least 3 days to do the whole thing. Or, come early next year for that Pa gathering,Fearless is putting together, stay here & go down everyday & see the whole thing, then we will ride to Pa together.:clapping:

I have been there, just want to go back. Parts of it will not be opened due to the virus, have to wear masks and social distance. What time of year will the PA gathering be or is that to be determined?

Fred is still in the planning stages ,last we talked. Hope he gets it together,if,enough interest. There is some pretty riding in Pa. Actually if you get here Sat ,you could run over to the museum on Sun. Not that far from the house.

when you getting into the UP could meet up on ride with you some? Temps have been 85 inland 70s along the lake shores

Leaving 13th, first nite in Mount Pleasant MI.

Tues 14 will cross the bridge & head west to Iron Mt, Mi.

Wed 15 go to Proctor,Mn for 2 nites so we can ride that North Shore ride, then back to Proctor

If any suits ya let us know.

Oh Boy, we really wish we could tag along. But, neither of us can get off. This damn Covid-19 is going to kill our riding season. Hope ya'll have a great trip. Hope to see everyone at the next Kerrville meet.

Robert & Diane :wave4:

Hope they do a Kville ,yet this early Fall. Be safe Robert. if not we may just come down on our own. Love riding down there. If it is too cold here when we decide, will just put in the trailer.

Well we are off again. Growing up, we all prob knew Roy Rogers was from Ohio. But yesterday on our first day, a little town on Rt 127 .North Star,Ohio was the home of Annie Oakley surprise,surprise.. https://centerofthewest.org/explore/buffalo-bill/research/annie-oakley/ kind of interesting. Today we went across the Mackinaw Bridge into the UP of Mi & start of our ride on 2 out to Wa state.

Not sure about that, over 200 miles out of route. Have to wait & see.
