Depends on why you’re removing the cat if you removing it for heat on the foot‘ No you don’t need a tuner.. If your removing it for performance yes you probably should use a tuner….

I have not done it on my M8 because it dosnt bother me. I did the cat removal on my Dyna 33.5 seconds after it arrived home. No tuner/ stage 1 till later. Not the same motor I know. I think if your gonna go through the trouble of removing the cat might as well do a stage 1 and be done with it. A breather bypass is also smart money. See DK Customs web site.

The newer bikes have a good deal of self adjustment in the ECM, I have done several myself without any issues. DK Custom did an article on this subject I do believe, my train of thought is. The 02 sensors are ahead of the cat so any change by removing the cat would be minor.

Just have to find one now that has the time. My guy in Richmond has no mech, now but himself & is swamped. He said maybe late Oct .

I remember a thread with Kevin and Fuzzy talking about doing something that let the comp relearn after doing minor stuff and that it made more of a difference than they would have thought.

Harley ECM have adaptive learning programed into them, The M8 Delphi systems have more than earlier models

Doing away with the cat will not hugely affect these bikes/ trikes, the O2 sensors will still send required info to the ECM
