Hi,my front right brake rotor is heating up badly.Tried everything I can think of,new pads, have taken calipers apart ,cleaned and inspected ,ok,inspected o rings, they were plyable and no damage, pistons look good.Put it back together, same problem with the heat on right rotor, left is fine.Bled complete brake system with new Dot 4.So thinking it has to be the o rings, they are the original ones so maybe they have swelled or maybe the original brake fluid did something to them.Figured not a big deal, get a caliper rebuild kit from Harley maybe a hundred bucks or so,well you guessed it,Harley doesn’t have a rebuild kit for it.They want you to buy a 650 dollar,( Canadian)brake caliper. My question is can anyone send me a link for a company that sells a rebuild kit.The calipers are six pistons. Thanks

If you can find a good parts guy at an auto parts store he may be able to match up the caliper O rings and dust boots for you

Older Napa parts catalogs had specs on the hard parts for many calipers and wheel cylinders

Thanks very much for your answers. The calipers are original Harley calipers and have thought of lines being plugged, will check tomorrow.

Sorry I'm shooting from the hip here.

Does your trike have linked brakes? That means does the front brake come on with the rear peddle being pushed only? If I remember right, because I've not had a linked system but I believe the right front caliper is the one that works with just the rear peddle being pushed using just I BELIEVE only 2 of the pistons. If that is the case in your trike I would start looking at that part of the system. If it was being caused by the front system both front brakes would be effected, unless it was a bad hose to just the one side. Like I said I'm just guessing.

My 17 Ti Glide has linked brakes and both front calipers have a small piston for the rear brake pedal. I have been fighting this issue with the brakes for some time now and the only solution I have come up with is to make the front and rear brakes separate units, and I'm still not sure this will fix the issue. I have a set of 4 piston calipers so I will be installing them this winter then blocking off the line from the rear master cly that runs to the front. Sinc there is no ABS on my bike I am hoping I will have no codes.

Check rotor runout.

Fought/still fighting same issue on 16 TriGlide. Gas Mileage has stayed the same since new. So although I feel the rotors are too hot they aren’t causing enough drag to affect MPG. Issues started after replacing original pads at 34k miles. New rotors since one did have close to maximum run out. Put around 3k miles since noticing the hot rotors. Haven’t removed and measured pads but not seeing excess pad wear. I’m going to ride this season and do a deep dive on repairing or replacing calipers this winter. (Financial Situation Allowing)

Have you swapped out the calipers yet? I am thinking of doing this for my 2017 freewheeler. Or at the very least disconnecting the linked line from the rear master cylinder. Thanks.

No not yet, in my case it is the front calipers that stick. I have the calipers and the rebuild kits for them, I just haven't gotten around to replacing them yet.
